This week in ESOL

Social Studies with Ms. Denney

Thursday and Friday: You will complete three small activities about European Exploration of the New World. Activities may depend on how you performed on the test.

Science with Ms. Ducre  

Wednesday: We will practice writing. We will identify chemical changes vs physical changes. If time permits, students may work on their projects

Thursday and Friday: I would like groups to present to my class. You may present to the whole class in Ms. Ducre’s class if you are feeling brave!

Science with Mr. Shook

Wednesday, Thursday,Friday: We will be working on a group project called “Dude, you gotta move!” Synthesize all your knowledge of biomes to complete this activity.

Social Studies with Ms. Rose

Wednesday: Finish any activity related to ethnic groups. I will grade your assignments in class if time allows.

Thursday and Friday: I want to try something. We will all pretend that Kurdistan gained independence. I will divide the students into groups. You will pretend to be leaders of Kurdistan. I must see a map, physical features, political features. We are also going to learn about political systems and economic systems. You will pick systems for Kurdistan. I really want you to pretend you are helping to start a new country. Everyone will be assigned a role for the group. Stick to your role!

Thursday 8/24

ESOL in Ms. Denney’s room

We will focus on the vocabulary you may not know. I will have Frayer models and other strategies. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Remember the speaking and listening skills you learned! Remember your learning style and use it.

ESOL in Ms. Ducre’s room

I will be honest with you. These three laws are a lot to learn (Pascal’s, Charle’s and Boyle’s) but Ms. Ducre and I will set up a station for each. Understand each session is a different law and you will have a great start on a challenging subject.

 

ESOL in Mr. Shook’s Room

We will either play Taboo or use technology this day.

ESOL in Ms. Martin’s Room

You will be assessed on SW Asia religions.

ESOL in Ms. Denney’s Room

I will provide a word bank to help you write comparison and contrast statements for the Native Americans in GA.

ESOL in Ms. Ducre’s Room

I will teach you how to take notes independently with Cornell notes. Remember; you have to pretend to be a teacher. Impress me with challenging questions! The answers to the questions will be your summary.

Mr. Butler is using Cornell notes for his university classes. Seriously!

ESOL in Mr. Shook’s Room

Today we will start using the new books. I promise you will like them! Stick to your groups or pairs and everything will work fine.

ESOL in Ms. Martin’s Room

I will teach you how to use a triple Venn diagram to compare and contrast the three religions. Pay attention and you will know more than most adults!
