8th Grade Science: Week of 5/13/19 to 5/17/19

Monday – Thursday:

  • Work on Egg Drop Project -please reference the handout from class to see building guidelines and how you will be graded.
  • You must provide your own materials from the list of acceptable materials:
    • Cardboard, Cloth, Wood, Paper, Plastic bags or plastic wrap, Styrofoam plates or cups (not foam packing), String/yarn, Popsicle sticks/ dowels/ toothpicks, Straws, Cotton balls, Tape/glue
  • This is a TEST grade!

Friday: 

  • Durham’s Annual Egg Drop – Project is due at the beginning of class and the report is due after the egg drop is complete (2nd half of class on Friday)

  • Check Study Guide (study guides cannot be turned in for a late grade… they were given one week ago and you had an entire class period to complete them; answers were given in class)

7th Grade Science Final on May 15th

Final for 7th grade science is on Wednesday, May 15th. Use the Life Science Review Book previously completed as a study guide for the final… all questions are from the review book. Also, there will be no retakes so please study and be prepared.

7th Grade AC Life Science: Week of 5/6/19 to 5/10/19

Monday:

  • 3rd Block: Women in STEM Presentations
  • 4th & 6th Block:
    • Finish Elk vs. Wolves Graphing Lab
    • Goat by the Water – Observation vs Inference Practice
    • Soda Geysers design an experiment

Tuesday:

  • Discuss Soda Geyser designs and decide on how to test the problem (as a class)
  • The Case of the Missing Computer Chip

Wednesday:

  • Soda Geyser Experiments

Thursday & Friday:

  • Frog Dissections (this is a quiz grade)
  • Virtual Frog Dissection Lab (uses the same lab sheets that we did in class)
    • If you choose not to participate in the lab in class, you will complete the virtual lab independently and turn in for a grade

7th Grade AC Life Science: Week of 4/29/19 to 5/3/19

Tuesday: 

  • Present the 16 Influential Women in STEM careers

Wednesday: 

  • Predator vs Prey Game – bring gym shoes for this active participation activity

Thursday:

  • 3rd – finish Observation vs. Inference Practice & correct in class
    • Scientific Method Notes
  • 4th – Graph Predator vs Prey Data  from Wed.

Friday:

  • 3rd – Scientific Method Practice w/s
  • 6th – Graph Predator vs Prey Data  from Wed.

*** There will be a final for 7th grade science on May 15th***

Study material has been returned to students (Life Science Review Booklets) and the final will be based on the information contained in this review guide.

  • Remember, the way you represent a topic is flexible (be creative)… for example, classification of matter can be represented in the following way and still meet the requirements:
