Monday 9/18 – Complete quarter 1 reading touchstones. HW: Strange Orchid short story plot diagram due Wednesday! You will also need your novel and composition books starting Wednesday.

Tuesday 9/19 – Finish quarter 1 reading touchstone. HW: Strange Orchid short story plot diagram due tomorrow! You will also need your novel and composition books starting tomorrow.

Wednesday 9/20 – Input answers on iRespond for quarter 1 reading touchstones. Set up composition books for novel study. Begin Touching Spirit Bear pre-reading activity.

Thursday 9/21 – Preview chapters 1-6 vocabulary words for Touching Spirit Bear.

Friday 9/22 – Media Center lesson on finding textual evidence while reading Touching Spirit Bear.

**UPDATED 9/14** It is strongly recommended that you buy your own personal copy of Touching Spirit Bear and bring it with you to class along with the required composition book BY WEDNESDAY 9/20. Originally it was by  9/14, then with the missed school days this week I thought we wouldn’t get to it until after fall break, but it looks like we will be able to start WEDNESDAY 9/20!

Monday 9/4 – Labor day holiday

Tuesday 9/5 – Today we turned in the architecture matching worksheet from Friday, then completed warm-up worksheets 3 and 4. Then we watched a Roman architecture video to review and enhance our discussion over architecture from Friday.

Wednesday 9/6 – Today I gave out a study guide and crossword puzzle. Both are to be used to study for the test on Friday and will need to be turned in before the test on Friday.

Thursday 9/7 – Today we will be reviewing for the test tomorrow.

Monday 8/28 – Figurative Language: complete warm-up, take notes on figurative language, complete figurative language packet with provided answer sheet – turn in

Tuesday 8/29 – Making predictions: complete warm-up, fill in notes for making predictions, complete making predictions “globe” worksheet

Wednesday 8/30 – Paraphrasing/Summarizing: complete warm-up, fill in notes for paraphrasing/summarizing, read article A, B, or C and complete summarizing questions – turn in

Thursday 8/31 – Review: review all reading strategies covered, make sure all fill in notes are complete. Test tomorrow over all reading strategies.

Origins – Week of August 28 – September 1

Monday 8/28 – A green Latin vocabulary sheet was handed out which contains all of the information needed for the next few days. We learned the Latin numbers 1-10 and completed a practice worksheet using numbers 1-10.

Tuesday 8/29 – We reviewed numbers 1-10 and added numbers 11-20. Went over yesterday’s practice worksheet using numbers 1-10, then completed a practice worksheet that included numbers 1-20. This worksheet was turned in for a classwork grade.

Wednesday 3/20 – We used our green Latin vocabulary sheet to go over all of the basic conversational phrases. The class did a popcorn practice asking each other how they are doing and what is their name, then we did a partner practice following the entire basic conversation in Latin.

Thursday 8/31 – Today we used our green Latin vocabulary sheet to learn the days of the week and months of the year. We focused more on the days of the week and sang along with a song to help us remember them. The months of the year look very familiar to the English months. We also completed a practice worksheet using the days of the week and months of the year.

Friday 9/1 – Today we started learning about the Roman architecture. We focused only the famous architecture found around Rome, Italy. We also completed a practice matching worksheet on the architecture.
