Origins of Language: Practice and review of everyday French vocabulary words PART TWO using Bingo as an incentive.

3rd Block Reading: warm-up; read chapter 20; complete journal 20; choose one journal between 17-20 for us to grade, staple the rubric to it and leave for us to grade. HW: Study for comprehension check over chapters 11-20 tomorrow!

7th Block Read 180: small group/whole group rotations. 8th Grade goes with Ms. Hardin, 7th grade stays with Ms. Kines

Reading 3rd Block – Warm-up reading day 2, finish journal ch. 17, fill in study guide, read ch. 18, complete journal ch. 18.

Reading 7th Block – Rotations “B” day to complete individual reading and computer stations.

Monday 11/27/17

I’m so glad to be back! It was so great seeing all of you again!

Origins of Language: Today we worked in groups and read chapter 1: France and the French language, and then completed the French Cuisine worksheet.

Reading Block 3: After the reading daily warm-up, we read chapter 17 together as a class, then completed journal #17. We will give you a few minutes at the beginning of class tomorrow to finish journal #17. No homework!

Reading Block 7: Rotations day 1 where 7th grade stays with me and 8th grade goes with Ms. Hardin for whole group and small group grade leveled reading.

Monday 9/18 – Complete quarter 1 reading touchstones. HW: Strange Orchid short story plot diagram due Wednesday! You will also need your novel and composition books starting Wednesday.

Tuesday 9/19 – Finish quarter 1 reading touchstone. HW: Strange Orchid short story plot diagram due tomorrow! You will also need your novel and composition books starting tomorrow.

Wednesday 9/20 – Input answers on iRespond for quarter 1 reading touchstones. Set up composition books for novel study. Begin Touching Spirit Bear pre-reading activity.

Thursday 9/21 – Preview chapters 1-6 vocabulary words for Touching Spirit Bear.

Friday 9/22 – Media Center lesson on finding textual evidence while reading Touching Spirit Bear.

Reading: Week of Sept. 11 – 15

**UPDATED 9/14** It is strongly recommended that you buy your own personal copy of Touching Spirit Bear and bring it with you to class along with the required composition book BY WEDNESDAY 9/20. Originally it was by  9/14, then with the missed school days this week I thought we wouldn’t get to it until after fall break, but it looks like we will be able to start WEDNESDAY 9/20! 

Monday 9/11 – no school

Wednesday 9/13 – complete warm-ups for Monday through Wednesday to catch up. Discuss and work on plot diagram for “Forever Young”

Thursday 9/14 – Theme/Characterization/Conflict Mini lessons

Friday 9/15 – Finish discussion and plot diagram for “Forever Young” as a class

Monday 9/4 – Labor day holiday

Tuesday 9/5 – pre-reading questions and discussion for our short story we will be starting tomorrow.

Wednesday 9/6 – Read “Forever Young” together as a class and discuss short story

Thursday 9/7 – Discuss elements of plot/diagram graphic organizer, fill in characters, setting, intro, and rising action

Friday 9/8 – Discuss theme and review elements of plot.  Fill in graphic organizer with climax, genre, theme, point of view, and conflict.
