We will be visiting our perspective middle schools on Wednesday May 4th. Please be sure your child has returned their permission slip no later than this Friday, April 29th. If their original permission slip has been misplaced I have attached it below. Please print, fill out and return both pages.
As we come to the close of a wonderful fifth grade year we have some exciting events planned! Each of these events are a privilege that students have the ability to earn. In order to track their progress towards these incentives we have implemented “Class Dojo”, a point system some of you are already familiar with.
Students will be awarded points for working hard, being on task, participating, teamwork, helping others and persistence. Conversely points can also be deducted for disrespect, being off task, not having homework, talking out of turn or being unprepared. Points can be tracked online in real time. You will be able to see exactly why your child is gaining points and discuss their progress towards each activity goal! A letter will go home in today’s Tuesday folder with your login information.
Point goals will grow with each event and previously earned points will be applied to or deducted from the next goal.
STEM DAY, MAY 6: 10 points
FIELD DAY, MAY 13: 20 points
STUDENTS vs. TEACHERS BASKETBALL GAME date TBD: 30 points
FIFTH GRADE PICNIC, MAY 23: 40 points
Please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher if you have any questions.
Greetings Fifth Grade Families!
A sincere thank you all for your support during testing. We had fun treats and encouraging notes each day that made for a wonderful week of testing and the kids really seemed to enjoy coming in to different motivational quotes and treats each morning. Also, “big ups” to you all for making sure your child was here, on time, every day, our class has only one student who will need to take a makeup test! The kids worked very hard in every subject area, and we hope to receive the results within the next two to three weeks. As a reminder, all fifth grade students are required to successfully pass both reading/language arts and math to be promoted to middle school. In the unfortunate event that they did not meet grade level expectations, then retesting will take place on May 17th, 18th and 19th.
Below you will find a list of upcoming events and reminders to make note of, feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Again thanks for all of your support and I look forward to finishing this year strong!

I am sure you have all been expecting some work to come home this afternoon with your kiddos but we are switching it up a bit for Spring Break and going digital! We felt that this would be much more convenient for families who may be traveling as they wont have to keep up with any papers. All of our practice work over the break will be online. Students will have four MyOn reading and writing projects (two for science topics and two for social studies topics) as well as the online math practice that Mrs. Curley has assigned. Students can log into Education Galaxy with their individual IDs (assigned by Mrs. Curley and written in their agendas) and the password “learn”. Students are required to earn 26 “stars” in the math section by the end of Spring Break.
Georgia Milestone Testing begins WEDNESDAY, April 13th with reading. The testing day is rather long for our students, keeping this in mind please be sure that your child gets a full nights rest and eats a healthy breakfast each morning.
