This Week In Kindergarten (8/19-8/23)

Hello Kinder Parents!

I hope you are having a great start to your week. Here are a few class notes a reminders.

Class notes:

Wishlist Items:  We are in need of a few items for our classroom. Please consider donating if you can.

  • *Goldfish crackers
  • *Pretzels
  • Gummy Bears
  • Playdoh
  • Lysol Disinfectant Spray 

*Goldfish crackers and pretzels are good snacks to have when students need them. Thank you all so very much for your generous back-to-school donations! I truly appreciate all of your contributions. 

PURPLE FOLDERS: Please check your Kinders purple folder, remove papers on the “KEEP AT HOME” side, and return it daily. This folder is our means of communication back and forth and will ensure important forms and notes are not lost.

ABSENCES: If your child is absent for any reason remember to send in a note when they return. You may also submit your note online to: Teasleynotes@gmail.com- this will go directly to Mrs. Joy, our attendance clerk.

GUIDANCE: We will have our first Guidance lesson with our Counselor Mrs. Oliver on Wednesday. Mrs. Oliver will visit our class biweekly to teach special lessons that will help our Kinders be the best versions of themselves. (example of topics: Being a good listener?, Treating others fairly., Using good manners,…etc.)

MEDIA CENTER: We will visit the Media Center on THURSDAY 8/22. Please make sure library books are in backpacks ready to be returned. Thanks for your help.

SHOW & TELL: FRIDAYStudents may bring in ONE show and tell item that begins with the following sounds: /i/ as in “igloo”, /h/ as in “horse”, /u/ as in “umbrella”, hard c /k/ sound as in “cat”, /b/ as in “ball”…students should only bring in ONE item to share. 

MYSTERY READERS: Signup Genius COMING SOON!  -We are looking forward to having you share your Kinder’s favorite stories with our class. : ) 

This week we are learning:

IB Unit- Who We Are: Our School Community

ELA:

  • Read Aloud: Clark The Shark, How do Dinosaurs Go To School, How To Fill A Bucket. Power Point of Teasley workers for an inquiry into school workers.
  • Fiction / Non-fiction texts.
  • Fiction Literary Elements: character, setting, problem/solution
  • Phonics: letter/sound recognition, handwriting Ii, Hh, Uu, Cc, Bb
  • Sight words: I, a, are, see, is, can, you

Writing:

  • How to be a 3 Star Writer! -We will be writing about our school community. The library, the cafeteria, and recess.

Math:

  • Number sense numbers 0-5
  • Count to 100 (fluently)

Wednesday, 8/28:  Early ReleaseWednesday is our first EARLY RELEASE day of the year.  We will begin dismissal at 12:20pm and the first load buses should roll at 12:30pm.  ASP will be available until 6pm.
