This week we have been working on non-standard units of measure. It is awesome to see how creative your children have been with this type of measurement. Check out our pictures!

Extra! Extra! Read all about it! Furthermore, those students who have perfect attendance for the entire school year will have the opportunity to participate in a end of year celebration during the last week of school as well as FOUR entries into the drawing for the bike! Thank you so much for your support with getting your student to school on time every day.

We were fascinated to learn about Michelangelo who created so many artistic things during the Renaissance. He showed the characteristics of a Risk-Taker and a Pioneer by doing things others had never done before- this included painting while laying on his back!! We tried this out today and learned “THIS IS SO HARD”, “THIS IS THE HARDEST THING IVE EVER DONE”, “HOW DID HE DO THIS FOR FOUR YEARS?”
Check out the pictures 🙂
Are you interested in allowing your child something fun and creative to do? Encourage them to participate in the PTA Reflections. Reflections is a creative way to express their thoughts through art, dance, music, poetry, and film. I participated when I was a child and would love to pass that love of creative expression on to my students. The theme this year is Heroes around me.

I cannot wait to see what your child creates!!
Just wanted to let you know Mr. Avey Shaw was our first Tiger Paw Drawing winner! For those who are unfamiliar with the system, students can earn a tiger paw for exhibiting amazing character traits. These include our IB learner profiles. Tiger Paws are placed on a bulletin board for all students to see. Every month, the Tiger Paws are taken down and put in a “hat”. Names are drawn and those names are winners. Our very own Avey was a winner! We are so proud of you buddy!
Do you have any extra pillows or blankets you would be willing to donate to our classroom? If so, please feel free to send them in!! Our boys and girls enjoy the freedom to read and write in a “comfy spot”. These extra blankets and pillows will help us be even more comfortable 🙂
