Math Resources

Hi Parents!

We have been working so hard on adding numbers up to 10. Your children have started to become experts in composing and decomposing numbers to 10. What does this mean? EASY! Your children have learned how to visualize numbers- this can mean in a tens frame, in a picture, in a number sentence, or being able to rearrange the numbers. An example of this is the number sentence we practiced yesterday-

7+2= T

We came up with SO many strategies to solve this! We used a tens frame, drew pictures to represent, and decomposed. We decomposed the 2 into 1 and 1. We combined the 1 with the 7 to make 8. From there, we were able to count on to make 9.

The brain is a cool thing!

We are pioneers who want to drive change

Hi Parents,

Today we discussed what we have heard about all weekend- Hurricane Dorian. As we have learned about pioneers driving change, we decided to be like those pioneers. We brainstormed some ideas on how to help the people of the Bahamas. Check out our ideas!

I am incredibly proud of my caring, knowledgeable, risk-taking class. Hopefully, we can put one of these ideas into action to help the Bahamas!
