Desk or Treat: Desk or Treat will be Thursday. (We have 28 students in our class.) Your child can bring in a treat to share with classmates. No nuts please. Also please bring all treat on Thursday. We have limited space for storage in our classroom.

Here’s what we are learning this week in our classroom.

  • Math: Multiplication and Division Multi-Step Word Problems
  • Reading: Compare and contrast a firsthand and secondhand account of the same event or topic; describe the differences in focus and the information provided.
  • Language: Correctly use frequently confused words (e.g., to, too, two; there, their).
  • Writing: Opinion Writing
  • Science: Solid, Liquid, Gas & Water Cycle

Happy Sunday! Learning is still underway in our classroom and we are still booming with excitement about all the new and exciting things that are taking place in the classroom. This week we will participate in an author Visit via Skype in the Learning Commons. The students are in for a real treat!  We are also celebrating Red Ribbon Week. See details below.

Red Ribbon Week: This week is red ribbon week. See the different ways the students and staff are participating in Red Ribbon Week each day.

  • Monday – Proud to be Drug Free – Students wear red!
  • Tuesday – Peace Out to Drugs – Wear peace signs and/or tie die clothing
  • Wednesday – Team up Against Drugs – Wear your favorite sport shirt or jersey
  • Thursday – Lei off Drugs – Wear a lei and/or Hawaiian clothing
  • Friday – Our school chooses to be drug free! – Wear school spirit shirt or school colors.

Homework: Homework will return to it’s normal pace this week. Students will receive reading passages and spiral math review or math sheets related to the current standard.

Week #10: Oct. 14th – 18th

Happy Sunday! Just a reminder that this week Cobb County will have early release everyday, on the elementary level, to accommodate for conference week. If your child is going home a different way than normal, please don’t forget that transportation changes should placed in writing for confirmation.

Also students went home with graded papers on Friday, as well as a brown paper bag for canned goods. Please take a look at the information attached to the bag and consider donating to families that are less fortunate for this upcoming holiday season.

Week 9 – Oct. 6th -11th

We made it to the ninth week of school, technically the last week in the first semester of fourth grade. Yay! (smiley face) Our students have done a great job working hard to learn fourth grade course work and we have had so much fun throughout the process.

Reports Cards: Just a reminder. This year the students will receive an averaged grade for each subject area, instead of a standards based report card. If you have your login information for ParentVue, you can access their grade on this link: Parentvue or you can download the app on your mobile device.

Conference Week: Conference week letters went home on Friday, 10/4. Look for a green conference letter sheet with the day and time of your conference. Complete the bottom section of the sheet and please sent it back on Monday. Phone conferences are also available, if needed.

Spelling Test: We will take Week #1 Spelling Test on tomorrow, Monday 10/7. So make sure you get a little extra practice in on today!

  • Writing: Narrative Writing – Focus: Elaboration (adding describing details to make the reader visualize the story).
  • Science: Stars and Planets
