Dear SECOND GRADE Students,

You did it!  You will officially be second grade students at the end of the day.  Do you look different; do you feel different? Today is a good day to make some goals for the summer: you can complete the Summer Goals page in the lesson plans OR simply write in your learning log.  1) List a book you would like to read or challenge yourself to read a certain number of books, 2) write about one thing you would like to learn to do, 3) write about one thing you know how to do but you want to practice so you can get better, and 4) list some things you want to write about this summer.  I like to keep a summer journal, and every night before I go to bed, I write about one fun thing I did or learned that day.

This morning, I spent time thinking about all the great things you will do in second grade.  I was also thinking about all the amazing things you will do throughout the rest of your school time and as you become marine biologists and architects and teachers and authors and all the many jobs you will choose to do when you grow up.  You will change lives and the world!

If you get bored this summer, you can always write me an e-mail and tell me what you are doing or reading or making.  I promise to write back.  And, I look forward to visits from you when we start the new year in the fall.

Keep in touch.  Love, Mrs. Wood
