Extended School Day August 21st
On August 21st, the Cobb County School District has extended the school day by 45 minutes as a result of the solar eclipse.  In preparation for the event, we purchased the NASA certified protection eyewear for our 4th and 5th grade students and teachers.  Only students in those grade levels will be allowed to view the eclipse live outside with proper eyewear and parent permission.  Permission slips will be sent home in Tuesday Tracker folders on August 15th and must be returned by Friday, August 18th.  Students in K-3rd grades will be allowed to watch a live stream of the event from their classrooms.  Any students that have a portable classroom will be brought into the cafeteria to watch a live stream of the event.  As always, you are allowed to check your student out prior to 2:00 pm. We are asking for no checkouts from 2:00pm – 3:00 pm. There will be additional support in the front office from 11:30-12:30 to assist with early checkouts.  Dismissal will begin at approximately 3:05 with bus students. Please feel free to call the school if you have any further questions or concerns.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

It is time for your student to take the online SLO post-test! You may recall learning about the online SLO assessment in August/September 2015 when your child took the pre-test assessment.

What is a Student Learning Objective (SLO)?

SLOs are subject-specific learning objectives that provide growth measures for student learning. Teams of Cobb County teachers from across the district developed the SLO assessments. The SLO implementation requires teachers to use online assessments to determine student growth over the course of the year. The results of these assessments ensure that students, teachers, and Eastvalley Elementary are moving toward a common vision of exemplary instruction and high levels of student academic growth.

Your child will take the online SLO post-test with his/her teacher sometime between Monday, May 2nd and Friday, May 13th. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!

Dear Eastvalley Parents,

The winter months are upon us which means an increase in illnesses in our school community and at Eastvalley! While school attendance is critical to ensure student achievement and academic growth, it’s also just as important to maintain a healthy environment for all students. In order to keep everyone as healthy as possible, Eastvalley wants to remind all parents and families that students should not be sent to school with a fever, diarrhea, and/or vomiting. According to Cobb County School District policy, students should be free of fever (without the use of fever reducing medicine), diarrhea, and/or vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school.  This will help keep the students and staff healthy throughout the school year. Students may attend school while experiencing minor health concerns such as coughing, allergies, congestion, sneezing, exhaustion, and other mild, non-contagious conditions. Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation. Feel free to contact Nurse Dawn Mahoney at [email protected] or 770-578-7214 with any questions.

PORTUGUESE

Prezados Pais da Eastvalley,

O inverno chegou!
