I hope you all have a nice three day weekend and have some fun and relaxation. Our school week will be a busy one, so please make sure your child is well rested.
COGAT testing begins Wednesday and goes through Friday. It’s under an hour of testing each morning. There is no need for you to prepare for it other than insuring your child has a solid night’s sleep and a full breakfast for fuel for the test. The IOWA testing begins the following week and takes up about 2 hours each morning.
We’ll still be keeping to as normal a routine as possible. Lucky for us, third grade is beginning the American Indian unit and it will be so engaging! We’re also working on multiplication which excites the children! Lots of interactive, hands on activities will be welcome after each morning of testing.
Here’s the learning plan:
- Math – Multiplication and division with arrays, ants & cookies
- Reading – Asking/answering questions, character traits, American Indian folktales
- Writing – Publishing, storyteller voice, editing
- Lang. Arts – Synonyms, spelling
- Social Studies – American Indians in Southeast & Northeast
- Read Aloud – Because of Winn Dixie
Let me know if you need the Seesaw login information. Your child’s writing is going to be published to it. Just think how nice it will be to get an alert in the middle of the day and be able to read your child’s first published story of the year! Some of the children have been enjoying the commenting feature. I’ve talked to them about what kinds of things they should say in their comments. If it doesn’t meet the criteria, it doesn’t get posted because everything has to be approved by me.
Why the hamster photo? We are wanting to earn a hamster, but are three compliments short. I want to encourage all the children to do their best to impress (as a class) and earn compliments from other adults in the building.
