Can you believe that snow? It was the stuff of a child’s dreams! Hopefully, it didn’t cause you any troubles. We’ll have to play catch up with our assessments and projects, but we’ll get it done.
Math homework is assigned, but there is no spelling this week. We’ll begin practicing cursive this week. The children will take both the reading inventory and math inventory this week. I look forward to seeing the growth, and I’ll share it with you!
Our learning plan:
Math ~ Multiplication problem solving
Reading ~ Patricia Polacco stories, literal from non-literal language
Writing ~ Holiday traditions around the world informational brochure
Science ~ Fossils, evidence of the past
Our Wellstar health presentation with Ms. Julie was Thursday, and here are some things she taught the children: sleep 9 to 10 hours each night, snack on foods that have sugars in the single digits, and get lots of movement. The children always enjoy our Wellstar presentations!
We have an exciting week ahead with special activities in store. We have a Wellstar nutrition presentation, science lab, a media center lesson, guidance, and the Thursday night Grinch PTA performance. Holiday project making will start, and there is a rumor that an elf has been sent by Santa to keep an eye on our room. I won’t believe it until I see it!
The students found a Carolina Preying Mantis on the playground, and “Pearl” is now our class pet! We’ll be observing all her marvelous adaptations, and if we’re lucky, she’ll produce an egg case, and we’ll study her offspring in a few months. By the way, we’ll welcome a new hamster after the winter break.
Here’s what we’re learning this week:
