Dear Parents,

We’re curious about what the groundhog has to say about spring! We just want days of sunshine instead of rain.

Our learning plan:

  • Math ~Fractions, comparing and equivalence
  • Reading ~Peter Pan, written responses
  • Writing ~Opinion, categorizing thoughts, adding examples to support reasons
  • Lang. Arts ~Cursive, model sentence
  • Social Studies ~Early exploration of the U.S.ย

We’re working hard to improve our lunch room behavior, which is an unending challenge in schools. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Your support at home is greatly appreciated!

PTA will be collecting Box Tops and Supplies for our Enrichment Teachers this week. Please direct students to drop off donated supplies to the STEM Lab.

The Scholastic Book Fair is open at 7:15 each morning this week. Your child may shop after checking in with us in the classroom.

Dear Families,

The children are doing some fabulous learning despite rainy, muddy days without any time on the playground!

Our learning plan:

  • Math~ Fractions, comparing and ordering
  • Reading~ Peter Pan, answering questions citing text evidence
  • Writing~ Opinion writing, thesis statement and reasons
  • Language Arts~ Conjunctions, cursive
  • Science~ Georgia habitats

Homework:

  1. 20 minutes of reading (books, Newsela)
  2. 10 minutes of math (Prodigy, multiplication facts)

๐Ÿ˜€We need snack donations (crackers (saltines, Ritz, etc), pretzels, and Cheerios. Thanks in advance! We’re collecting aluminum pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House. Thanks for collecting them for this good cause.

Here’s information on our upcoming International Night. We have a special surprise for each child who attends this event. I highly recommend the fabulous food!

Kincaid PTA invites all families to one of our biggest events of the year: INTERNATIONAL NIGHT! Join us as we travel the world on January 31st, 6-8 PM! โ€œBoardโ€ in the cafeteria, obtain a โ€œpassport,โ€ and travel around the school to visit, learn about, and sample food from countries represented by Kincaid families. Visit the โ€œDuty Freeโ€ shop to purchase spirit wear and international goodies! Bring a food item, present a craft, prepare a visual board to teach about your heritage, or just sightsee! RSVP on Membership Toolkit OR using the yellow flyer that was sent home in December. Forms due by Fri, Jan 17. Walk-ups OK but please RSVP so we can plan classroom space for each heritage/country represented!

Dear Families,

We hope this holiday in honor of Dr. King is a great one for you and your family!

  • Reading ~ Peter Pan, characters, citing text evidence
  • Writing ~ Opinion/Argument
  • Language Arts ~ Adverbs
  • Science/S.S. ~ Georgia Regions, animal and plant habitats

Homework:

  • 20 minutes of reading (books or online on Newsela)
  • 10 Minutes of Prodigy
  • Multiplication facts practice

Newsela is an online nonfiction reading site that every child is Cobb has access to. Your child can read interesting selections at a just right reading level and take a quiz. The children log in through Cobb Virtual Library and Clever, and then will be directed directly to their account. The children are being trained in the classroom. Try it for reading homework…I think you’ll like it!

Dear Families,

The children got right back into the groove of school. They’re enthusiastic little learners! Report cards go home today. Let us know if you have any questions. Please return the signed report card envelope and keep the contents.

We hope you’ve had a great winter break. We’ve missed the children and have been getting ready for them.

Here’s our learning plan for the week:

  • Reading ~ A mystery read aloud will be revealed, comprehension strategies
  • Math ~ Fraction unit, partitioning shapes, bars and lines
  • Science ~ Plant and animal adaptations
  • Writing ~ Opinion writing unit begins

Needed: Sanitary table wipes, sanitizing hand gel
