About Mrs. Pennington

This is my sixth year at Kincaid and I’m so proud to be a part of this terrific school community!

I have been married 39 years to my husband, and we have just begun an experiment with multi-generational living. Our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren live in their own little apartment in our home. I LOVE it (although I don’t get to nap much anymore)! I was an Army Brat and always lived at least 1,000 miles from my own grandparents. I love hearing my 4-year-old granddaughter come up the stairs and call out “herro”! My family is originally from Colorado and Kansas. I’ve lived in 11 states, Germany, Japan and Okinawa—before we settled here 32 years ago. I love to travel, and when I can’t, I read about it!

In the last 23 years, I have taught kindergarten, first, second and third grades. I have a master’s in early childhood education from KSU, a bachelor’s in journalism from Kansas University, and a gifted endorsement. I love teaching all subjects, but am especially passionate about writing, reading, and science. I am honored to have been a Walmart Teacher of the Year and a presenter at two national reading and writing conferences. What I love most of all about teaching is children! I’m happy to get up each morning for  school and have a learning adventure with the little ones.

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my family, read, work on creative projects of different types, listen to music, workout, enjoy the great outdoors and travel.
