6th grade Activities for 4/20 to 4/24

Monday 4/20

Today at 1 PM,  we are going to conduct a 6th grade Zoom lesson.  Mrs. Dean, one of our 6th grade ELA teachers, will be teaching live.  I will participate in the lesson, and I would love to see you all there!

For everyone’s safety, the Zoom lesson will require a password.  Email me today before 12:55 and I will respond with the Zoom lesson password.  Please make sure your name is in the email.  brandie.crook@cobbk12.org

BEFORE WE MEET, it will be best if you either:
A.) print this graphic organizer Argument Writing Graphic Organizer
OR
B.) make one of your own like I did

(YOU DON’T NEED TO FILL IN THE ORGANIZER YET. We’ll do that together during the Zoom lesson at 1:00 today.)

If you miss the Zoom, we hope to have a recording of it posted when it is over. But just in case that doesn’t work… your task today will be to look back to your argumentative writing vocabulary and review the difference between claim, reasons, and evidence.

Then, using the claim you submitted for feedback last week about traditional school vs. digital school, you will plan for an argumentative letter. You will complete an organizer like the one above, listing TWO REASONS for your claim and then THREE PIECES OF EVIDENCE to support each reason. You will be using your own experience, opinions, examples for this argumentative writing. No research will be necessary this time.

TO SUBMIT YOUR ORGANIZER, take a picture of it and email it to me.  I will reply with feedback via email.  brandie.crook@cobbk12.org

Below is an example of the organizer Mrs. Dean completed from a teacher’s perspective on the digital learning prompt.
