I really enjoyed getting to sit down with each of you to talk about your amazing kids last week! Thank you so much, to each of you, for taking the time to come in!
Here is what we will be working on this week:
Math: We will be doing multiplication with the Area model (box method). We will start with 2 digit times one digit and then finish the week finding the product of two double digit numbers.
Be sure to practice multiplication facts every night for 10-15 minutes!
Social Studies: We will continue to work on our unit about the colonies. We will talk about how life was in the colonies and learn all about their jobs, resources, and struggles.
Science: We will continue with our force and motion unit. We will be doing some fun STEM projects to better understand some of the vocabulary words that we learned last week.
Vocabulary: We will have Wordly Wise list 5 test this Friday. The kids will also have their new spelling words written in their agenda. Those words will be tested on November 3rd.
Reading: We are still working through our Matilda novel study in book clubs. We are also working on identifying nonfiction text features. Some of the groups will be working to identify the main idea of a passage.
Writing: We are working on summarizing a nonfiction article, or nonfiction book. We will use PebbleGO to read articles about important colonists. Then, we will work in groups to summarize and share the information.
Friday, October 27, is Foundation Friday! Students can pay $2 and wear a school appropriate costume to school. If you choose for your child to participate, please remember to follow school dress code and do not send students with masks or props.
Our amazing Kincaid Foundation will also host a Halloween Dance from 4pm-6pm. Students attending ASP, with your permission and donation, can attend the dance under supervision of the ASP staff. Students coming to the dance after school, must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
PTA REFLECTIONS: Does your child enjoy art, music and dance or are you talented at writing, making films and taking pictures? Allow them to show their inner artist and be recognized with PTA Reflections! This year’s theme is “Within Reach” calls for their personal interpretation through the arts. Kids can pick up instructions and an entry form in the front office, then drop off their submissions in the red Reflections box near the library. The last day for submissions is Friday, October 27.
