This week, we will be continuing to work on several topics as well as begin new ones.
We will begin the Orientation for the Read180 program. We will view the implementation video and a software demonstration of how the program works. We will also break into our guided reading groups and practice our rotations while choosing books appropriate to the student’s reading level.
Students will continue to have the nightly reading passage for homework.
We will continue our Place Value unit by learning how to round numbers to a certain place value. We will begin by rounding the hundreds and work our way to the millions. Students can practice Place Value at home at https://teach.conceptuamath.com/app/tool-library.
Homework will be assigned Tuesday-Thursday for math this week.
We are continuing spelling this week with List 4. This list may be viewed at http://www.spellingcity.com/joinermd/.
Homework for Spelling is writing the words 3 times each Monday-Thursday night. Students may also go on Spelling City to their accounts to play games and complete practice tests.
We will continue this week with our Personal Narrative writing. We are focusing on revising and editing our writing before continuing to our final draft on Friday.
Homework for Writing will continue to be the Daily Editing Paragraph and the Daily Language Review.
We will begin Science this week with learning about the Water Cycle.
Our Health lessons this week will focus on personal health, including skin care, dental care, vision care, and hearing care.
We have finally received word as to what to expect for the Solar Eclipse on August 21, 2017. Nickajack Administration has opted for us not to go outside to view the eclipse. Opportunity will be given for us to watch the live broadcast from either Kennesaw Mountain High School or NASA.
Early checkout is welcome up until 2:00. There will be no checkout allowed after 2:00 for the safety of students and parents on the road during the eclipse.

It was great seeing everyone who came out for Open House tonight! I shared a lot of information, and you received your red Thursday folders. Anyone who was not here tonight will be receiving the folders tomorrow. These are very important, as they include your student’s Milestones scores from third grade!
I am including tonight’s PowerPoint presentation below for anyone who was not here and wants to see it.

Also, our Family and Friends Luncheon is right around the corner! Our lunch time will be on November 17, 2016, at 11:00-11:40. We will have two tables available for our class, so there will be plenty of room for the students to invite as many family members as they would like for lunch that day! The book fair will also be open during this time, so it is a great opportunity to buy some fun books for the Thanksgiving break!
Additionally , our class will be visiting the Book Fair as a group to browse and purchase books. We will be going on Monday, November 14, from 11:00-11:20.
Finally, the school will be participating in the Thanks for Giving Food Drive November 10-17, 2016. Check out the list of needed items here: Thanks for Giving List
Thank you so much, and have a great day!
Welcome to Conference Week!
I look forward to meeting with all of the parents this week to discuss each student’s progress so far this year. I will be sending home reminders for your meetings throughout the week.
School will be releasing two hours early this week for conferences. Dismissal will begin at 12:10 instead of 2:10. Also, our lunch time has changed this week: we go at 10:47-11:17 this week. Also, while there will still be ASP, there will be no after-school clubs this week.
Thank you, and see you soon!
The fourth grade is hosting an event at the Fall Festival (for more information click here), and we need your help!
We are asking for donations from fourth grade families to help this event be a fun success.
Our class has been asked to bring in pre-packaged crackers such as Goldfish, Ritz, Cheezits, or even Pretzels. You may also feel free to donate other pre-packaged foods if you would like!
Please, send these snacks in by Tuesday, October 11, 2016, so that we can be prepared for the Fall Festival.
Also, if you are interested in volunteering for the Fall Festival itself, visit the Signup Genius.
Thank you for your help!
We have an exciting feature called ParentVue (PVUE) which allows you to keep an updated eye out on your child’s grades as teachers enter them into our
Do you need your PVUE account information? You can come to the front office, during school hours, to obtain your account information. Please be prepared to show ID to receive your login information.
The PVUE information is the same for all of your Cobb County children, so if you already have your login for another of your children, it should be the same.
Have a great rest of your day!
