Busy week in Kindergarten………………………….

We decorated the end of our hallway with the “dot” creations we painted after reading the book The Dot.


 

 

 

We then added the community buildings we made after learning about our community and community helpers.

                                                           

And we walked to Publix to learn all about what happens at the grocery store………………..

Then to finish out our week, Gutsy the Fox came to launch our PBIS  program.  We had a great time!

 

This week in Kindergarten…………………………………………

We have had a busy couple of weeks getting our “rituals and routines” in place and learning be “proactive” as we make good choices.  We have started our Reader’s, Writer’s, and Math Workshops.  We recently read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and then “synergized” with friends to creat our own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees…………..

 

 

On Friday mornings we enjoy going to the cafeteria for LIFT with all of our Kindergarten friends……………

Happy Holidays!

This week and next are going to be jammed packed.  The students will be making lots of holiday crafts and learning holiday songs.

In Reader’s, we will be reading, Santa’s Stuck by Rhonda Gowler Greene.  We will be focusing on predicting, retelling and inferring.  The students will also make their own Santa stuck in the chimney. 

In Math, we are working on our senses, word problems to 5 and counting to 100.

In Social Studies, we will be learning about how different countries celebrate Christmas or Hanukah.

Last Full Weekof October!

To start off the week, we had the illustrator, Michael P. White come and share how he draws his pictures for children’s books.   We were able to draw a frog, pig and a bear.

We also were able to go to the STEAM lab and use the Beebots.  We programed the Beebots to move to a number between 11-20.

Kindergarten has been busy the last few weeks.  The Kindergarteners have been learning to count objects to 10 and counting to 50.  To celebrate counting to 50, we had the 50th day of school and we dressed up in poodle skirts and leather jackets.  We learned how to do the hand jive and we were able to compare how things were in the 50’s to now.
