Week of Sept. 17th

We made it through the first two days of IOWA testing! The students are working so hard! We have 2 more days of testing.  I know they will continue to ROCK the test! Thank you to those of you who signed up to send in snacks!!!!

Curriculum Night for K-2nd is Tuesday and 3rd-5th is Thursday of this week. There will be hands on, engaging activities for your children. The Kindergarten Zoophonics parade will take place on Tuesday.  Children can wear their pj’s and listen to a bedtime story before they go home. Both nights begin at 6 p.m.

Did you know you can nominate an Employee of the Month? Maybe you’d like to give our custodians a shout out for keeping our school so clean! Or how about the ladies up in the front office that work so super hard greeting parents, checking students in and out, and sorting through all of  the paperwork? Any staff member can be nominated just by clicking this link and filling out the super short form! The link is also at the top of the PMES website.

We had a great time on our rock quarry field trip! I hope your child came home excited and ready to tell you all about it!  Big shout out to all that chaperoned!  We have other field trips this year if you were not able to make it on this one.

Over Fall Break, Mrs. Allen is challenging all Pirates to read 200 minutes. The challenge starts Friday, September 21st at 2:30 pm and ends on Sunday, September 30th at 11:59 pm. If you complete the challenge, your name will be entered into a drawing to win ten Book Fair Bucks to spend at the Book Fair coming in October. Each grade level will have their own drawing. For every half hour you read ABOVE the 200 minute requirement, your name will be added an additional time to the drawing. So, that means that if you read for 260 minutes, your name will go into the drawing three times: once for meeting the goal, and once for each half hour above the goal. Log your minutes in Biblionasium just like you did over the summer. You can access Biblionasium at home through Destiny using your office365 email address as the username and your student number as the password.

Have fun!
