Here's what is happening in our class!

Week of May 21st

FIELD DAY for 3rd grade is next Monday, May 21st. Here are some important things to take note of:

  1. Wear a shirt the same color as your assigned team – more info. to come
  2. Wear gym shoes
  3. Bring your lunch from home if you didn’t sign up to purchase one from the school
  4. Bring at least one water bottle labeled with your name
  5. Hats and sunglasses are permitted, however, you’re responsible for keeping up with them
  6. Apply sunscreen before coming to school
  7. You WILL be getting WET so I suggest to bring a change of clothes
  8. Have fun and be a good sport
  9. BRING A BEACH TOWEL – we will be eating lunch in our room and relaxing on our towels!
  10.  Parents – If you would like to volunteer to walk around with us and help me with crowd control that day, please let me know. You can volunteer for a full day, half day, or pop in when it’s convenient for you!

******TUESDAY is GAME DAY!  NO DEVICES/electronics! They can bring in a board game or a card game.  *******

We have had a BOOK SWAP in the Learning Commons this week.  Students will be able to go shopping for a “new” book with their coupons if they participated.

The COW DROP will be taking place on Tuesday, May 15th.

If your child is participating in the WAX MUSEUM…..Please be ready to present at 4:00 on Friday, May 18th.

We will be having a BOOK SWAP in the Learning Commons next week. The goal is to put a couple of “new” books in your hands to read over the summer. If you would like to participate, please bring in 1 or 2 gently used books one day next week. These should be books that you’ve already read and that you think another student would like to read. You will receive a coupon in exchange for the book you bring in. If you bring in a nonfiction book you’ll receive a nonfiction coupon, if you bring in a chapter book you’ll receive a chapter book coupon and so on.

Then, the following week students will be able to go shopping for a “new” book with their coupons!

The COW DROP will be taking place on Tuesday, May 15th. You can purchase cows for $5 each from now until May 11th. The grand prize is free Chick-fil-A for a year! The top two classes that sell the most cows will get to see their teacher go up in the helicopter to drop the cows…that would be AMAZING!!

MONDAY IS OUR FIELD TRIP! Your child does not need to bring a backpack.  Please have car riders here by 7:30 am.  It is going to be a super fun day!!!  Thanks for all you do!!

  • Pick up Times ARE VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!

Please plan on picking your child up from school at 3pm and park in the back parking lot where the buses drop off. Please do not park in the bus lanes closest to the gym. There will be 3 charter buses lining up alongside the curb. Hopefully we will not hit too much traffic and we will arrive at Pickett’s Mill as close to 3:00 as possible. If for some reason we are off schedule, we will call the school and they will let you know via dial out.

  • Class Shirts – please wear your class shirt on our trip. This will help our teachers and chaperones easily keep track of all the students. If you do not have a class shirt please wear a GREEN tshirt. Remember, this field trip is outdoors so please dress appropriately for the weather including gym shoes.
  • SNACKS AND WATER BOTTLES

Please pack 1 peanut free DRY snack (no yogurt, applesauce, etc because they will be eaten on the bus) and 1 disposable water bottle. Please label the water bottle clearly with your child’s name.

  • SEVEN HABIT BEHAVIOR WILL BE EXPECTED AT ALL TIMES! Students will be expected to listen and follow directions from teachers, chaperones, and group presenters. Students will be expected to be respectful of their surroundings and utilize 7 habit behavior at all times. Misbehavior will result in removal from participating in the remainder of the field trip.
  • Lunches….Please pack in a bag that can be thrown away- NO LUNCH BOXES!! Make sure you check the letter to see if your child has signed up for a school lunch or a lunch from home.

FIELD TRIP

Reminders – – Field Trip to Amicalola Falls

     The day is almost here! Our field trip to Amicalola Falls is fast approaching. The trip is Monday, April 30th. There are a few key details you need to remember about our exciting trip.

Week of April 23rd

SPRING FLING is this Friday, April 27th! Come out to support Pickett’s Mill, have fun, and DUNK MRS.FRANCO in the dunk tank! I’ll be in there from 5:50-6 pm and the school is matching all of the money raised during that time to purchase supplies for the classroom!!! You may want to line up early because it’ll be cut off right at 6pm so the next teacher can hop in.  WHO WILL DUNK MRS.FRANCO???????

We are back to our normal homework routine. Please make sure your child is completing and returning the homework!

 

Thank you so much for the quick turn around on getting registration forms/envelopes and field trip permission slips back to me! I am very excited about our field trip to Amicalola Falls! Look for a reminder letter to come home this week on pick up times, what to pack, what to wear, and etc.

 

Student Council is having a Peanut Butter Blast Food Drive to benefit Sweetwater Mission in Austell. They drive will be going on the week of April 23-27 and we’re asking for donations of:
1. plastic jars of peanut butter and jelly
2. boxes of macaroni and cheese
3. juice boxes
