LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL!!!

Tuesday and Wednesday are EARLY RELEASE DAYS! Please remember – students are not to bring anything with them on the last day of school, May 22nd. No backpacks, lunchboxes, etc.

We will be having sack lunches on May 22nd. If your child did not sign up to purchase a sack lunch from school please remind them to bring one from home.

Third grade will hold a YEARBOOK SIGNING on Tuesday, May 21st. If your child purchased a yearbook please have them bring it that day.

Week of May 13th

FIELD DAY is on Tuesday! A few notes about Field Day:

  1. You WILL get WET! You may bring a towel and change of clothes if you’d like
  2. Wear gym shoes
  3. Wear your team color shirt (see letter that went home)
  4. Bring a water bottle labeled with your name
  5. Hats and sunglasses are permitted, however, you are responsible for keeping up with them
  6. Apply sunscreen before coming to school – I am not allowed to apply it for you
  7. If you did not sign up to purchase a sack lunch please make sure to bring one from home
  8. Be a GOOD SPORT!
  9. HAVE FUN!

A letter went home today (Friday) letting you know your child’s team color. Parents are invited to come have fun with us.  The fun starts at 9am.  We can meet you out there!

We will be having a grade level TUG OF WAR COMPETITION on Thursday. All 3rd graders will be participating so please make sure to wear gym shoes.

Thank you so much for thinking of us during Teacher Appreciation Week! The desserts, school supplies, popcorn bar, cards, and more were so very appreciated!

This Friday, May 17th is our final STEM Day! We are still in need of recyclable items (bubble wrap, black trash bags, cardboard, felt, fabric, plastic, newspaper, etc.). The students will be creating a costume for me out of items that are good insulators.  I will be THE INCREDIBLE INSULATOR!  Please send these in before Thursday. Ask your child about it!!

The 3rd grade show is in the cafeteria at 12:10 on Friday if you’d like to come watch us!

GUESS WHAT?????

As part of my end of the year gift to YOU… No homework will be sent home tomorrow! BUT…. you still need to make sure you are reading for at least 20 minutes each night AND working on multiplication facts.  I cannot believe this year is coming to an end!  What a great year it has been!!!  THANK YOU!!

Important Information

* The Cow Drop is coming! Chick Fil A will be dropping cows on Tuesday, May 14th, at 1:15 p.m. Buy your cows today! Order forms were in your child’s binder. They can be purchased from 7:15-7:45 a.m. in the front hallway.

* Step one of the Book Swap is this week.  Your child may turn in a gently used book to the Learning Commons and receive a voucher.  Next week your child may redeem the voucher for a book.

*Leadership Night is Thursday! This annual tradition is a great opportunity to see all students show off their leadership skills and 7 Habits talents. Leadership Night is 6:00-7:00  followed by a community Meet and Greet with your new principal, Dr. Benji Morrell, from 7:00-8:00.

*Don’t want to think ahead to the craziness of back to school shopping? Want to  plan now to avoid that rush in August? Order your pre-packaged, specific to Pickett’s Mill and your child’s grade level school supply kit! Check your child’s Tuesday folder for directions for easy online ordering.  All orders must be placed by May 24.

Week of April 29th

LEADERSHIP NIGHT is Thursday, May 9th at 6 pm. 3rd graders are holding a Living Wax Museum! This is such a FUN experience for students, parents, and teachers alike. Final STEM Day of the year…coming soon!

We have had so much fun during our first two STEM Days this year and we have saved the best for last! Our final STEM Day is May 17th. This day will include a “Recycled Runway” fashion show with our awesome staff wearing recycled fashions created by our students. This unique day integrates grade-level science standards, problem solving, synergizing and the design-engineering process. We will need your  help in collecting recycled materials for our custom outfits. Please look for information this week.

Career Day

We have had a fun CAREER DAY! We created Sways to present our research on our career choice, we enjoyed some relaxing reading, and listened to some speakers from Cobb EMC!!
