Monday, October 22, 2018

  • Success Starter
    • Think-Pair-Share Activity –  With an elbow partner, one student read the learning question and the other student respond with their understanding of the learning question.
  • Opening
    • Demonstration of Physical Changes– T/have a student to come to the front of the classroom and tear a piece of paper into pieces. T/have another student try put the paper back together on the table. What did the demonstration represent?
  • Class Activity
    • S/read a quick read on Physical Changes independently.Next students will participate in a “Peer Chat.” Students will pair with another student to discuss the Independent Read on Physical Changes. During the Peer Chat discussion, the students discuss the physical changes of matter. The students are carrying on the discussion with minimal interference from the teacher.
    • INB activity to record important notes on physical changes using a fill-in the blank.

  • Class Activity
    • S/read a quick read on Chemical Changes independently.Next students will participate in a “Peer Chat.” Students will pair with another student to discuss the Independent Read on Chemical Changes. During the Peer Chat discussion, the students discuss the chemical changes of matter. The students are carrying on the discussion with minimal interference from the teacher.

Objective: I am learning how evidence of chemical reactions indicate that new substances with different properties form.

  • Success Starter
    • Think-Pair-Share Activity –  With an elbow partner one student read the learning question and the other student respond with their understanding of the learning question.
  • Opening
    • To check for understanding T/ randomly select students to review the pictures by giving a claim, providing evidence and reasoning for their answers.
  • Class Activity
    • Gallery Walk – T/place images the hallway. S/individually, assess the pictures by identifying them as a physical or chemical property and physical and chemical change.
