Back Again… I hope everyone had a fun winter break! I cannot believe we are already here–our busiest time of year. We are prepping for our Driftwood trip and testing; both of which will be here before we know it. This week in math we are starting to study volume of 3D figures. This is a very important topic in 5th grade math, and our last new major topic to learn. In Social Studies we will be starting the Great Depression and looking into its many causes.
Reminder – There is a mandatory Driftwood Parent Meeting at 6 pm Tuesday in the Cafeteria. We will cover packing list and all mandatory paperwork for the trip. Students are invited as well.
monday – math volume worksheet, vocab match the meaning
tuesday – math p. 959-960, vocab synonyms and antonyms
wednesday – math volume review worksheet, vocab completing the sentences
thursday – math p. 971-972, vocab word association
friday – math quiz (volume), vocabulary quiz
as always, students should be reading nightly and reading logs are due on Mondays.
Have a great week.
Believe it or not, the Driftwood Trip is coming up very soon! This is such an amazing opportunity for our 5th graders, and continues to be one of the best memories from elementary school. We will be gone March 15-17, and we have some important information to cover prior to the trip.
Feb 28 – Parent Meeting
There is a mandatory parent meeting this Tuesday 2/28 at 6 pm in the cafeteria. We will be discussing all logistics of our trip as well as covering all of the paperwork that needs to be completed prior to leaving. I hope everyone will be able to attend this meeting, but please let me know ASAP if you are not able to make it so we can plan an alternative arrangement.
Mar 1 – Payment Deadline
Wednesday is our payment deadline for the trip. The entire $250 must be paid in full by this date in order to participate in the trip.
Mar 10 – Chaperone Meeting
Parent chaperones will meet at 7 am Friday 3/10 in Ms. Branham’s room in order to discuss and finalize chaperone plans for our trip.
Please let me know if you have any questions about Driftwood or any of the upcoming dates.
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend and a not so depressing Super Bowl
In math this week, we are finishing our work on dividing fractions and whole numbers. In social studies, we are moving on to the Roaring 20’s. We just completed a fantastic unit on World War I, and I am so impressed with everyone’s interest and deep levels of thinking.
