class video

I hope everyone is enjoying their first days of summer. I am so proud of you all, and you’re so ready for middle school! I’m attaching a link of the video I made for the class (the one ‘title’ mistake is still there). I’m also working on uploading the 5th grade video!

😭💕 last week of 5th grade! FYI students do not need a lunch any day this week

Picnic is still on! Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and maybe a raincoat.

Award’s ceremony in AM. Students may dress up for the awards ceremony, but I advise bringing a change of clothes. Early dismissal

wear your blue 5th grade shirt! Early dismissal

Career Presentations

Don’t forget that trifold board portion of your career presentation is due on Friday. Required information is listed on the green sheet that was in the Tuesday Trackers a few weeks ago. Email me if you need a new copy of this; it’s not allowing me to attach it here.

Also, parents will not be invited to the career portfolio presentations this year. These presentations are primarily for the k-4th graders to attend, but we were able to invite parents for the first time last year because of specific circumstances. Due to a larger class size and limited amount of time in the cafeteria this year, we ask that only students attend the presentations. I apologize for any confusion this has caused!

week of may 14

The home stretch!!! Thank you for all of your hard work this year; let’s make these final 8 days the best 🙂

  1. Awards Day – Monday or Tuesday I will send home invitations with students who will be receiving awards on May 22.
  2. Luncheon – parents please remember to pre-order your lunch for our 5th grade luncheon on the last day of school. There will not be any food to purchase the day of the event. Order forms were in the Tuesday Tracker last week, additional forms here
  3. Career Portfolio Presentations – Please bring in completed career projects on Friday. Students may dress up, bring props, etc for some extra credit. Anything to make their display engaging and interactive is great! Parents are welcome to come see our career presentations in the cafeteria Friday morning.

5th grade luncheon

I am sending home some information about the 5th grade luncheon in the Tuesday Trackers this week. The luncheon will be catered by Chick-Fil-A, and we are providing a meal to all the students. Parents and family members can pre-order a Chick-Fil-A meal for the luncheon as well.

If you would like to order a lunch, complete and return the bottom portion with payment.

Hope to see everyone there!!!

week of may 7

WHAAAAAAAT we are coming to the last few weeks of school!! They’re going to fly by, but we have so many activities planned to make the final days of Eastvalley memorable.

Social Studies

This week we’ll be learning about Vietnam War, Cuban Missile Crisis, and the assassinations of 1968. Be on the look out for a study guide. We will have a Cold War test either late this week or early next week.

AC Language Arts

We’re beginning our career portfolios this week. Students will take a skills inventory test that will match them with a number of careers that suit their interests/abilities. Next, they will choose a career option from that list to research. We’ll be writing a paper in class, and they will need to include the same information on a tri-fold board that they will present on May 18.

Please type essay if you are able to, but I will accept hand written final drafts if student do not have access to a computer at home. I am sooo impressed with the work most of you have put into these essays. I love what I have seen so far, and can’t wait to read the rest!

We are beginning our final project for the year.  The entire 5th grade will be creating and participating in a math arcade. Students will need to provide all materials for this project; we will discuss guidelines on Monday. This is one of my favorite activities all year, and I’m looking forward to seeing what this group comes up with!

Please note, our morning work quizzes are becoming increasingly difficult as the year comes to a close, and it is important that students are studying the skills from their math morning work throughout the week to prepare for the quiz. Also, please take advantage of all opportunities to make test corrections.

homework – bring in materials for math arcade, make test corrects (if applicable)

career portfolio presentation

To clear up some confusion, we will begin research for career presentation portfolios next week in class. At home, students will need to make a tri-fold board based on the information they find.

The letter in the Tuesday Tracker is just to give you a heads up on gathering materials for the poster.
