We are working hard as we come to a close of the 2nd quarter.
Please remember to have your child read nightly and fill out the Reading Log homework beginning Nov 10, 2017-1h5r942
Also, please remember to have 2nd graders practice addition and subtraction facts and 3rd graders to practice 0-9 multiplication facts and fill out the Math homework beginning Nov 10, 2017-21w0szg
We are working on multiplication/division for 3rd graders
2nd graders will continue practicing addition and subtraction.
We are continuing with Read 180/System 44. The students seem to be enjoying this program! 2nd graders are on RazKids.
We are working on suffixes and root words, vowel sounds, and comparing and contrasting writing
I hope you are enjoying your time off with your family. Please have your children read.
Also, another good activity to do the week we have off is board games. This teaches children many skills and it is fun family time!
Upon returning to school next week, we will only have approx. 3 1/2 weeks of school until the holidays. We want to stay as focused as possible because at the end of this, we will be at the halfway mark in this school year! Whew!
I sent home a reading log. This is a weekly log for your child to mark and send back each week.
In Math, there is also a log, but that is not for the week. When you have finished filling it up (this should take a month), send it back in for a new one.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
We will be working on subtraction with regrouping in word problems and in isolation.
2nd grade is still working on wh- questions
3rd grade will be working on main idea- and of, course, we are working in Read 180/System 44.
We will be learning about suffixes and how suffixes change how the word is used. Also, we will be researching the Kiwi bird and Kiwi fruit and writing an informational piece about them.
Homework change: I will be sending home weekly logs for Math. 2nd graders will be working on single and double digit addition and subtraction (12+7, 13-6, etc) and 3rd graders will work on multiplication facts 0-9.
For reading, I will send home weekly logs.
Look at both logs and please let me know if I need to clarify anything or give you any more resources. I believe these homework routines will help the students more than trying to give a daily worksheet for homework.
Students will continue with measurement (2nd grade) and area (3rd grade)
3rd grade- We are working on Systems 44
2nd grade- They will join us in the whole group lessons, but when we break into small group, we will be working on guided reading. In guided reading, I will be having the students read the same book with me and we will discuss it and also work on phonics while we are reading.
We will be working on compound words as well as writing complete sentences and spelling patterns. Additionally, we will be writing a letter about why we are thankful
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a restful time with your family. Enjoy the week!
