Week of April 9, 2018

Wow, I can’t believe there is only 6 1/2 more weeks of school! This year is flying by. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring Break and enjoying some of the beautiful whether.

When we return, we will be working right away. Tuesday begin Milestones testing. For practice, you may visit the following link:

http://www.gaexperienceonline.com/

Please make sure your child sees 3rd grade level passages, so he/she is used to seeing those long passages. Also, please stress that your child try his/her best, but does not get stressed over the test.

Your child will need plenty of rest and a good breakfast. Please make sure that he/she gets to school on time, so they don’t miss a test section and have to make it up.

This week, we will be focusing on practice and good test-taking strategies, as well as the following:

Math:

Multiplication and Division within word problems

Reading:

Reading lengthy passages and answering questions, as well as Read 180/System 44

Writing:

We will work on skills they will likely see on the test, as well as working on their monster narrative writing

Week of March 26, 2018

This is the last week before Spring Break. A couple days after Spring Break, 3rd- 5th graders will be taking the Milestones test. Please encourage your child to do his/her best, but not to stress. Most importantly, I do not want them to get stressed when they see the length of a 3rd grade passage. I will probably be sending home 3rd grade passages so you can help them get through it with as little stress as possible. Also, work on multiplication and division facts.

We will be doing a lot of practice leading up to the test.
