Here is the link that will be placed on the school website and shared with parents. .
Testing is over, but learning is not. I saw students trying their best and working hard during testing week!
We only have 4 1/2 weeks of this school year left, but we are going to continue to focus on learning!
2nd grade- we are going to work on reading and writing numbers though 1000.
3rd grade- we will work on telling time and figuring out elapsed time.
It is back to the Reading Lab for us, yea! We are very excited to get back in there! Not only will we be working on System 44/Read 180 and Raz Kids, but we will continue creating a book jacket that will show our love of Charlotte’s Web. In addition, students will show what they know through DRAs and Goals and Objectives.
We will be focusing on increasing our vocabulary through word work, spelling, and cursive handwriting. In addition, we will finish our Monster writing, then work on writing in different points of view.
Testing is going well! We have 2 more days. Please continue to have your child get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast, and talk with your child about not being stressed, but simply doing his/her best.
Also, please remind your child that we are still learning. He/she should stay focused!
We will be working on:
We read, as a class, and watched Charlotte’s Web. The students will create a book jacket with information about Charlotte’s Web. This will be done in class.
We will be finishing up our Monster writing, as we continue with narrative writing
Wow, I can’t believe there is only 6 1/2 more weeks of school! This year is flying by. I hope everyone is having a wonderful Spring Break and enjoying some of the beautiful whether.
When we return, we will be working right away. Tuesday begin Milestones testing. For practice, you may visit the following link:
Please make sure your child sees 3rd grade level passages, so he/she is used to seeing those long passages. Also, please stress that your child try his/her best, but does not get stressed over the test.
Your child will need plenty of rest and a good breakfast. Please make sure that he/she gets to school on time, so they don’t miss a test section and have to make it up.
This week, we will be focusing on practice and good test-taking strategies, as well as the following:
Multiplication and Division within word problems
Reading lengthy passages and answering questions, as well as Read 180/System 44
We will work on skills they will likely see on the test, as well as working on their monster narrative writing
This is the last week before Spring Break. A couple days after Spring Break, 3rd- 5th graders will be taking the Milestones test. Please encourage your child to do his/her best, but not to stress. Most importantly, I do not want them to get stressed when they see the length of a 3rd grade passage. I will probably be sending home 3rd grade passages so you can help them get through it with as little stress as possible. Also, work on multiplication and division facts.
We will be doing a lot of practice leading up to the test.
Spring pictures went home on Thursday, March 15. Each student should have received a picture packet. Inside of each packet are ordering instructions on how to purchase the picture packet or pieces of the packet.
We have 2 weeks before Spring Break. The week we return from Spring Break 3rd-5th graders will be taking the Georgia Milestones. We will be reviewing and discussing many skills the students will need. We will also be working on Test Taking Strategies.
This week we will be working on:
2nd grade- addition and subtraction
3rd grade- multiplication and division
2nd grade- we will continue with the main message the author is conveying.
3rd grade- Read 180/System 44
We are back to writing a narrative (story)- we are working on a story about a monster.
Also, we will be looking at point of view and shades of meaning in words
Students- read and fill out the form for books, so we get tape to tape Mrs. Bristow to the wall! Let me know when you read and I will be happy to help you fill out the form.
We will be reviewing many concepts in the next few weeks.
This week, our focus will be on:
We will be reviewing area and perimeter, as well as practicing place value up to 1000.
Some students are still working on DRAs and we will continue with Read 180/System 44. Your students are making progress in reading!
Your child has done very well with writing opinion papers. We will be working on Narratives (stories) again. We are having lots of fun with writing and celebrating writing. Additionally, we will work on learning point of view and main idea.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
