Wednesday Aug.1

  1. Welcome and Introduction to the Course
  2. Student Information Sheet
  3. Syllabus, Unit Outline ,Parent letter, How to Study, Introductory Vocab.
  4. Mental mapping notes and activity
  5. Four traditions of Geography article

Hmwk:

  1. Mental Mapping activity
  2. Read and analyze Four Traditions of Geography- will discuss in class on Thursday
  3. Review syllabus with parents and sign

Thursday Aug. 2

1.  Notes and discussion maps that tell history/map projections

2. Discuss your mental maps and turn in

3. Review the 4 traditions of of Geography into 5 Themes ( notes)

4. Issue Scavenger Hunt Part I  to work on with a partner

Hmwk:

  1. work on vocabulary
  2. Scavenger Hunt Part I
  3. prepare for U.S. map quiz (see blog or handout)-need to know all states plus additional key cities-

  5. Homework: Finish the summer reading assignment for the book A Little History of the World… it is due on Monday- see the Social Studies precourse assignments on the  Harrison website ( plus I gave you a copy today:) )

the ancient Eastern Mediterranean from 3500 BCE to 500 BCE
