Monday, Dec. 14

LG:  Compare how authors use different mediums to tell the same story.

  1. Compare selections from The Odyssey with the film adaptation.

 

Tuesday, Dec. 15

LG: Analyze a particular point of view or cultural experience reflected in the Odyssey, drawing on a wide reading of world literature.

  1. Read/analyze “The Land of the Dead” p.1064-69
  2. Visualize and paint your version of the land of the dead OR Scylla and Charybdis; consider modern ideas and establish a tone for your rendering of these mythical creations.
  3. Write a paragraph vividly describing your vision of these mythical creations with strong nouns and verbs
  4. Hang up the pictures. Under your picture, write a paragraph that vividly describes the underworld as you envision it. Use strong nouns and verbs.
  5. Analyze the rhetorical purpose of each picture. Who is the speaker, the subject, the audience, the intent? What is the primary message in each picture?

 

Wednesday, Dec. 15

LG:  Compare how authors use different mediums to tell the same story.

  1. Compare selections from The Odyssey with the film adaptations.
  2. The Road allusions analysis Allusions to Odyssey Inferno Metamorphoses.doc
  3. The Road group poetry readings poem group analysis The Road.doc.
  4. Compose responses for the last two reading questions for The Road.
  5. Prepare discussion questions and potential responses for the final exam.

 

Thursday, Dec. 17—Final Exam

Friday, Dec. 18—No class this period; you will take your 3rd & 4th final exams.
