Work Session: 

  1. Compose a CEI paragraph to analyze characterization (“The Contortionist’s Tattoo” and “Target Practice”).
  2. Self-score based on the expository rubric.

Closer: Review The Tempest scholar’s journal and Socratic discussion expectations; begin analyzing Act III.

Tuesday, April 9

Opener: EOC Question of the Day; Review The Tempest exposition and rising action.

Work Session:

  1. Analyze the evolution of Miranda & Ferdinand’s relationship in  3.1.
  2. Analyze comedy in 3.2.
  3. Analyze 3.3 for developing conflict with Alonso, Antonio, & Sebastian; focus on Gonzalo’s character.
  4. Complete CEI paragraph for evolution of Ferdinand and Miranda’s relationship.
  5. Read The Tempest Act II Scene 2; complete scholar’s journal entry for Act II.

Closer: View film adaptation, comparing structure of the play vs. structure of the film (altered ordering of scenes).

Wednesday, April 10

Opener: EOC Question of the Day; Review Acts III of The Tempest; complete “Somebody Wanted But So” statements to identify conflict and characters’ motivations.

  3. List potential topics for research.
