The 8th grade band will be performing at the Smyrna Tree Lighting on Tuesday November 28th. They CMS band will be performing with Griffin Middle School 8th grade and the Campbell High School Marching band. Students performing will meet there at 6:00 and will perform after Santa arrives. I hope to see you all there!
7th and 8th grade band students are now using a music software program that gives immediate feedback on a student’s performance. Students have created accounts at school to allow them to access the program. Students that have internet and a computer/tablet with google chrome will be able to access the program to record and submit playing tests at any point in time. Students will also have the access to the program in the mornings in the band room between 8:30-9:05. The program allows them to practice any exercise in their Essential Elements book along with any other music that is assigned to them. I encourage you to have your child demonstrate how the program works as it is very cool. Now they have “someone” at home to tell them if they are playing it correct!
6th grade band classes will be signing up very soon for the program.
The 8th grade band students marched in the Campbell High School’s Homecoming Parade along with the 8th grade students from Griffin, and the CHS marching band. The event was a great success and a wonderful opportunity for our students. Students marched alongside the high school members and played the fight song throughout the parade. I hope to see all our 8th graders on the field with the CHS marching band next year!
If you missed the parade, be sure to come out the the Smyrna Tree Lighting as the 8th graders will once again be marching with the high school for this event!
I would like to that each and every one of you that participated in our music fundraiser this year. Your help and support is greatly appreciated. All forms are due now, so if you sold items for our fundraiser, please bring in you forms and money tomorrow! Remember to send cash or a money order made out to Campbell Middle School. Remind your students to turn all money in as soon as they get to school!
Thank you very much!
All 6th grade students must have their instruments and Essential Elements Book 1 on Tuesday, September 5th. We will begin playing instruments so please make sure your child has what they need. If you are in need of a school instrument, please email me to let you know so I can make sure we have an instrument available. Students using school instruments must have the Essential Elements book prior to receiving a school instrument. I look forward to our first notes!
Throughout the year we will need volunteers to help with various activities such as concerts, fund-raising, chaperones and so forth. If you would like to volunteer, please complete the Campbell Band Volunteer Form. Simply click the link below and fill out the survey. Feel free to volunteer for as many activities as you wish, or maybe just one or two! Thank you for your support.

I’d like to welcome each and everyone of you back for the new school year. I am excited to be back in class with all the new and returning band students. 6th grade band classes have begun and we are currently testing to help students choose an instrument to play. 7th and 8th grade bands are already playing in class. Be sure to check with your child to see if they are in need of any materials for class. 7th and 8th grade students need to have a black 3 ring binder with sheet protectors, along with reeds, cork grease, valve oil and slide grease for their instruments.
I look forward to seeing each of you at Open House on Tuesday, August 15th for 6th grade, and Thursday, August 17th for 7th and 8th grades.
