Who is Mrs. Rutherford?
A Note About Mrs. Rutherford
July 24, 2019
Welcome to 4th grade! It is a privilege to teach your child and I am very excited about what we will accomplish together. This is my 23rd year of teaching. I have taught first, second, third, and fourth grades. One advantage of teaching different levels is seeing students progress through the education process and knowing what will be expected of them in the future. Becoming an active thinker and motivated learner will be very important this year.
As a child, I attended Catholic school in Bronx, New York. At the age of 12, my family and I moved to Kennesaw, GA in 1986. I attended Awtrey Middle School and graduated from North Cobb HS. I’ve earned my Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Clark Atlanta University. Soon after, I earned my Master of Education degree from Cambridge College in Boston, MA.
I am married to Winston Sr. and we have an 13 year old son, Winston Jr. and a 15 year old daughter, Allison. I enjoy painting, soccer, football, home decorating, cooking, traveling, and children’s literature. My favorite places to grab a bite to eat and drink are: Starbucks, Smoothie King, and everything from Panera Bread!
In closing, I am proud to be a part of the Pitner Patriot family and the excellence we strive for daily. You will discover that I have a firm and fair approach to running my classroom. I will encourage your child to try new things, work hard at all times, and to always do their very best. Please let me know if you have any questions. I am always here to help!
In service for children,
Mrs. Desiree Rutherford
