Our Savannah trip is planned!!! We will be going May 10th -13th. Yes this is the same weekend as the Music Disney trip so you will have to decide between the two.

Attached you will find the Savannah information packet. I am very much looking forward to attending this field experience with you all.

Remediation for Natives and Explorers

You will have the opportunity to take a re-assessment for Unit 2 Natives and Explorers Friday 9-22. Below is one of the tasks that needs to be completed in order to take the re-assessment. If you choice to complete the task see me for the second task. The second task will help you complete the first task.

This week we are finalizing the Colonization under the Trustee standard.

SS8H2 Analyze the colonial period of Georgia’s history.
a. Explain the importance of the Charter of 1732, including the reasons for settlement (philanthropy, economics, and defense).
b. Analyze the relationship between James Oglethorpe, Tomochichi, and Mary Musgrove in establishing the city of Savannah at Yamacraw Bluff.
c. Evaluate the role of diverse groups (Jews, Salzburgers, Highland Scots, and Malcontents) in settling Georgia during the Trustee Period.
Give examples of the kinds of goods and services produced and traded in colonial Georgia.

week 7 Sept. 13-15th

I hope you all enjoyed our unexpected break and that all of your families are well and safe.

We are continuing we Colonization of Georgia under the Trustee government.  The teachers have decided that we will break this unit up into different assessments. Your summative for the Trustee standards will be next week.

 

Wednesday: We recapped what we learned last week.

Savannah a Planned City- we looked at visuals and primary sources to compare the plan vs. reality.

Homework: Research on your person or group of people.

Who are they? Why did the come to the colony? How did the contribute to the development of the colony? Why are we learning about them almost 200 years later?

3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th: If you haven’t researched make sure you bring it in tomorrow.

6th period: You were given your person or group today. Bring your research to class tomorrow.

We are well into the colonization unit.  You took you quick check today. You should be evaluating how well you are learning the information. If you did not do well on the quick check you want to make sure you are reviewing your notes each evening. Remember there are resources under Pages and each unit.

Don’t forget about Dahlonega permission forms and funds. These due by Oct. 2nd you can find the information and permission forms under Pages and Field experiences. Also the Etowah Mounds additional field experience is still available.

Week 6 Sept. 5th-8th

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend and that you are ready to keep working hard and moving forward with your education. This time a year we tend to see students start to slip in behavior and work so make sure you are staying on top of both and being the best student you can be.
