Sources of Strength week

  • Sources of Strength Week – March 19-March 23 Every day, we want to encourage you to focus on what strength you rely on the most! One of the strengths we know get students through difficult times is Family Support
    • Monday – We will show our Family Support for one of our own, we want to partner with Mrs. Slaton to bring awareness to Down Syndrome, a cause very close to her heart. We will be helping her sell Down Syndrome Awareness tattoos. Stop by, get a tattoo and sign the Sources of Strength wheel to tell us which strength is most important to you.
    • Tuesday – If you don’t get your tattoo on Monday, stop by and buy one for you and the Positive Friend in your life.
    • Wednesday – We focus on Family Support by showing support for Down Syndrome Awareness Day by wearing the craziest socks you have and pair it with a brown, blue or yellow shirt.
    • Thursday – We want to celebrate the strength of Medical Access. Bring in a donation for Nurse Sanders and receive a sweet treat. We will be collecting donations outside the media center, of tissues, bandaids, hand sanitizer, mints, water…whatever you think she may need in the nurses station. If you forget your donation on Thursday, bring it in on Friday.
    • Friday – We wrap up the week on Friday with Mentors. Thank the trusted adult in your life and remind them why they are so important to you.

Week of March 5-8 and March 12-16th

This week we have been working on our final history standards and one of our Economic standards.

I look forward to seeing what you all have created!

Students have been in the media center or computer lab creating a stand alone presentation. All three social studies classes are working together. So some students are able to work with students from Mr. Banks and Mr. Houses classes.

Students will have a total of 5 days to complete their presentation, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Monday.

Starting on Tuesday, March 13th students will do a museum type lesson in which they will be able to gather and learn information about the standards from the presentations. They will spend a day on each standard that they did not create a presentation. They will have Friday March 13th to make sure they have all information they need to be successful for any of the standards.

Monday March 19th: Students will take a summative over standard History standard 8,9, 10, 12 and Economic standard 2. This summative will be two different grades. Splitting the standard into two different assessments.

The presentation will be the final grade for the 3rd 9 weeks. The summative assessments will be the first two grades for the 4th 9 weeks.

Below are the instructions.
