Math 6:  We went over the Study Guide today and practiced more problems with fractions.  Our test will be Monday.  Make sure to review your MSG notes for UNIT 4.  Rework problems if you missed them on the Study Guide.  Pay particular attention to problems with fractions and decimals.  You might even go back to our Unit 1 notes about operations with fractions and decimals. Textbook pages 429-482 go along with your notes.  If you need extra problems for practice look there!

MATH 7:  Many students were gone on the Orchestra field trip so the Unit 3 Test on Proportions was moved to Monday.  Please review your OMG notes from Unit 3.  Especially the two green sheets and 1 peach sheet on Constant of Proportionality and how you can determine whether ratios are proportional through a graph, table and equation.  Make sure you can set up word problems and solve.  Practice problems to prepare.  The following pages in your textbook may help:  pp. 373-391

Tuesday, December 13

The days are flying by way too fast…. so much to do, so little time!

MATH 6:  We finished writing equations for multiplication and division word problems today.  We also reviewed how to solve one step equations with inverse operations.  Took a quick check in for multiplying and dividing equations.  Tomorrow and Thursday we will be in the computer lab taking the Math Inventory.  HW:  Review Unit 4 MSG notes for the test on Friday.

MATH 7:  We practiced solving proportions by using cross products or finding equivalent fractions.  We took notes on how to solve word problem proportions and did sample problems.  We did a quick check for understanding of solving proportions with a variable.  We will be in the lab Wednesday and Thursday taking the Math Inventory. HW:  Review Unit 3 notes on proportions for the test on Friday.  Look at the two green foldables, salmon sheet on direct proportion and the 1/2 sheet notes about equivalent ratios and solving proportions.

Tuesday, December 6

MATH 6:  We practiced solving one step multiplication and division equations.  We will finish the classwork problems tomorrow.  If you aren’t feeling comfortable about solving these types of equations you may want to watch the attached video one more time.  HW:  p. 483, #12-20 even (these are all division equations so look at MSG notes and the example problem #12 for steps to follow).

MATH 7:  We discussed ways to find whether two ratios are proportional.  I have attached the PBS kids video link to proportions that we watched in class.  HW:  Finish Proportion Worksheet (problems a-n).  Show your work, especially for the complex fractions.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyhRv_MuxvA&feature=youtu.be

Thursday, December 1

MATH 6:  We continued to practice solving one step equations on the white boards.  Students are doing a great job of writing all the steps down to correctly solve the problem.  We can always use more practice with fractions.  HW:  Finish spiral math #10.  Finish the odd number on the mixed review. You don’t have to do the ones we solved in class!  If you are struggling or missed class this week.  Watch the videos posted on Monday and Tuesday.

MATH 7:  We practice unit rate by comparing prices of consumer goods in a SCOOT activity.  We did a quick check for understanding of unit rate.  HW:  Look over ratio and unit rate notes for quiz tomorrow.  If you fill out the Unit Rate Doodle sheet you can earn 5 points on your quiz.  Be sure to use a little color to emphasize key points to remember.  The answer key is attached: (The color copy may be easier to read.)
