MATH 7:  Retest for Unit 1 B Rational Numbers will be tomorrow at 8:15. You must complete test corrections to be able to retake the test.  HW:  Finish “How Does A Hawaiian Baritone Laugh?” worksheet on simplifying expression.  Review OMG notes on algebraic expressions, properties, and simplifying expressions.  We will have a quiz tomorrow after we review homework.

We are working on combining like terms to simplify expressions.  I only met with 7th period today.  We will have a quiz on combining like terms on Thursday.

MATH 6:  We are practicing solving unit rate problems.

MATH 6:  We started Unit 2 on Ratios, Rates and Proportional Reasoning.  HW:  Finish up classwork, p. 182. Define the terms in MSG.  Take another look at the video we watched in class.  Be able to tell me the difference between a ratio, a rate, and a unit rate.

MATH 7:  Only 1st period met today due to testing.  We reviewed Unit 1, Part B test on Rational numbers.  Students can make corrections in order to take a retest next week.

# Wednesday, September 13

MATH 6:  No homework.  Students took their Unit 1 test today.

MATH 7:  No homework assigned for tonight, but some students need to finish POW #3 and Operations with Fractions worksheet from last week. IOWA testing will begin tomorrow and continue through Tuesday of next week.  Please get a good night’s sleep and eat a good breakfast to start the day on a good note.

No School Monday and Tuesday, September 11 and 12th due to weather.

MATH 6:  The answers  to the Study Guide for Unit 1 are pictured below.  Check over your work and try to figure out any mistakes you have made.  Having some time home from school gives you a great opportunity to practice some of the skills you aren’t as confident about as others.  I know a few of you are still struggling with long division and converting mixed numbers to improper fractions so that you can divide fractions properly.

MATH6:  HW:  Students need to finish the classwork using the algorithm to divide fractions.  There is no need to complete textbook page 159, #1-5 unless you want extra practice.  Be reading through your MSG notes to prepare for Unit 1 test Friday or Monday.

MATH 7: HW:  Study for the unit test on rational numbers.  You have your corrected quiz with example problems and the study guide as well as notes in your OMG.  Pay attention to integer rules for positive and negative numbers.  Use your calculator to add and subtract decimals on the worksheet #5-14.  I have attached the Study Guide below. MATH 6:  HW:  p. 145, #1-8.  Model fraction division.  We will have a test on Unit 1 Friday. You will get a Study Guide tomorrow.

MATH 7:  HW:  Study Guide questions 1-16. Use your OMG to help you solve the problems correctly.  Show your work.  You may use a calculator.  Test over operations with rational numbers will be Thursday.

MATH 7 students please remember that the retake date for the unit test on Integers is Tuesday morning at 8:30.  Make sure to have your test corrections and bring your OMG with you when you come in to retake the test.  Review the previous blog posts to help prepare for the retake.
