Week of August 21st

What an awesome week we had!  We are in the full swing of our daily routine and I couldn’t be prouder!  We will be adding in some more specific groups in the upcoming weeks including guided reading groups and math groups.  This will help me meet your child exactly where they are and help bridge any gaps.

We had Kids Chess come in our class today and give a free lesson to our class.  The students were awesome!  Check out our photos!



Monday 8/21 – Extended school day.  We will be viewing the Solar Eclipse and taking advantage of this exciting event.

Wednesday 8/23 – Picture Day.  Order forms came home on Friday.

Wednesday 8/30 – Early Release Day at 12:15pm

Monday 9/4 – Labor Day – No School

Thursday 9/7 – All T-shirt orders and money are due



Math: We are finishing up our unit on place value as we dig deeper into rounding and understanding its purpose with application (word problems).

Reading:  We are digging deeper into story structure as we focus on plot.

Writing: We are working on good beginnings for our personal narrative and spending time creating our structure for a good story.

Grammar: We are looking at subjects and predicates, fragments, run-ons, and complete sentences.

Spelling: Your child will be receiving a new contract this week:Spelling Homework Sort2.  This will be due on Friday, September 1st.

Science: We are working on Eclipse activities for Monday only. Then, we will jump into our unit on water and weather.  We will focus this week on states of matter and types of clouds.
