Week of August 28th

We had a very productive week in 4th grade!  This coming week will be filled with many new learning experiences and opportunities.  Thank you again for entrusting your children to me this year.  What an honor it is to work with such amazing children!

UPCOMING DATES:

Wednesday 8/30 – Early Release Day at 12:15pm

Friday 9/1 – Entrepreneurship Day form is due (coming home on Monday)

Monday 9/4 – Labor Day – No School

Thursday 9/7 – All T-shirt orders and money are due

 

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS WEEK:

Math: We are moving into adding and subtracting with regrouping.  We will continue to review place value standards as we move into our algorithms.  We will have a place value unit test on Friday.  A study guide will come home on Monday.

Reading: We are moving into discovering the theme of the text.  We will draw on our understanding of the text structure to determine the theme of what we are reading.

Writing:  We are building on our writing this week focusing on: transitions, dialogue, and good endings.

Spelling:  We will have a test on Friday over Sort 2.

Grammar:  We are continuing with last week’s lessons on complete sentences, fragments and run-ons.

Science:  We are diving deeper into the types of clouds, weather instruments, water cycle, and weather vs. climate.
