Week of September 4th

I hope you had a restful Labor Day!  I know that I was able to accomplish more on my to-do list with the extra day…including family time!  Although our week is shortened, we do have a full week.  See below for upcoming dates and our weekly highlights.

9/6 – Progress Reports will be coming home today.  Also, our Cherryhill Fundraiser Kick-off begins today.

9/8 – All T-shirt orders and money are due and the Entrepreneur Day Proposal is due.

9/25-9/29 – Fall Break – No School

Math: We are focusing on subtraction using the standard algorithm. We will continue to work on addition as well.

Reading:  We are continuing with our unit on narrative text with a focus this week on pulling out important details from our text to create a solid summary.

Writing:  We are publishing our first narrative and beginning to create characters for our second narrative focused on realistic fiction.

Grammar:  We are beginning mentor sentences this week.  This is a great program as we look at amazing sentence structure, identify important constructs, and create our own versions of these sentences.  We will alternate these lessons with regular direct instruction on grammar.

Spelling: We are beginning a new sort this week. Spelling Homework Sort3-1oy88e8.  This will be due on September 15th.

Science:  We are continuing to learn about water and weather.  We will take a test on Friday covering our first half of the unit.  Study guides will come home on Tuesday.

Have a wonderful week!
