Week of October 8th

Congratulations to Carter for winning the plush cow for the Cherrydale Fundraiser!  Keep those orders coming!  The fundraising helps benefit our school.

I’m looking forward to speaking with you at conferences.  What a pleasure it is to work with your child and I’m so excited to share their progress with you!

IMPORTANT DATES:

10/10 – Practice Lock Down Drill for the Cafeteria

10/11 – Early Release Day at 12:30pm

10/12 – All Permission Slips & Payment are due for our Field Trips at the end of the month.  It is also Spirit Day – Wear your Red class t-shirt…or any red shirt.  We will also have a assembly launching our new behavior incentive plan!

10/15-10/19 – Conference Week and Early Release all week at 12:30pm

HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS WEEK:

Math – We are working on perimeter of rectilinear shapes.

Reading – We are working on Point of View.

Spelling – We have a new sort – Spelling Homework Sort5.  This is due on October 19th, our test day.

Grammar – We are focusing on using commas in a series.

Writing – We are beginning a fictional narrative writing piece.  The personal narratives are already in the hallway, ready for you to read and enjoy!

Social Studies – This week we will focus on Paul Revere, The Declaration of Independence, and the Battle at Lexington and Concord.
