Happy Friday!! Thank you for all your hard work in getting through the year of 139 in-school days and 33 digital learning days for a total of 172 days! Thank you Brynn for showing how to make $1.72!

We will have no more new lessons but open our 2nd Grade Digital Plan May 11-15  if you need to catch up on any unfinished work from the week. Please complete and upload your life cycle informational writing and also write a personal narrative about what we did in the month of May for your Monthly Happenings book. Remember we had Teacher Appreciation Week and you did a car parade for me which was AMAZING and I received wonderful surprise gifts daily on my front porch! (You can scroll through our blog to see all the pics.) You also learned about the life cycle of a bird and a plant in the month of May.  We worked on +/- word problems in math, and economics in Social Studies. We had Zoom meetings where we answered riddles about our classmates and won raffle prizes. And we had Virtual Career and College week. Today’s theme is “Career Day” – Dress like what you might want to be when you grow up. Don’t forget to post your picture to the Pitner PTSA FB page for a chance to win a $25 gift card! Add your own details to support the main ideas of May and use temporal words to sequence the events then post your May Happenings to Seesaw so I can see!

Remember each week you should log in to RAZ Kids and read and quiz on at least one book on your level and practice math skills for at least 20 minutes in Dream Box. Congratulations to the following students who have done that these last two weeks:

Have you shard a personal narrative about your weekend or what you learned during the month of April? We only have May left to complete in your Monthly Happenings book. Ms. Stanley is inviting you to her last ZOOM meeting for this school year today at 11:00. I sent the Zoom link in an email to parents today.

Topic: showcasing the book, The Terrible, Horrible, Smelly Pirate by Carrie Muller & Jacqueline Hallsey. Students are encouraged to dress in their favorite pirate wear and be ready to give the group their best Arrrrrg! Stay tuned after the story, there will be a “treasure hunt/scavenger hunt”.

Today please reread the two passages from Monday and Tuesday and compare and contrast them using the Venn diagram in the blue link under Wednesday in our team digital plan above or in Seesaw. Use specific details from each passage to say how they are different and the same. Do NOT just say one is non fiction and once is fiction.

WRITING –  I encourage you to upload a picture of your April Happenings personal narrative to Seesaw or email it to me if you haven’t already. As we work through this quarantine, continue to write your “Weekend News” and share with me on Seesaw if you like! I LOVE hearing from you!
