Classwork: Warm Up – Introduction to Adverb clauses; 10 minutes to read “Tangerine”; Textbook activity:3 Levels of Questions; Discuss Setting; Visualize: Draw a picture if the setting of the neighborhood of Lake Windsor Heights; What is Mood?

Homework: Adverb Clauses 1-4 on homework handout; Read pgs. 23-50 in “Tangerine”; Complete 4th Double Journal Entry over pgs. 33-50 (Make sure you are starting your commentary with a sentence starter from the front side of the double journal entry handout.

 

To be clear, you will have 4 double journal entries completed by tomorrow. One each for the following sections: Prologue, pgs. 6-22, pgs. 22-33, pgs. 34-50

Classwork: PowerPoint on characteristics of biographies. Autobiographies, and memoirs, record one characteristic of each in composition notebook

Homework: Remember to bring an independent reading book EVERY DAY. It would be a great idea if that book is “Tangerine”! That way the reading time you have in Reading class can replace some of the reading you have to do at home!!!

Friday, January 5

1st, 2nd, 3rd ELA with Mrs. Jackson

Classwork: Receive Reading Plan for “Tangerine” unit (blue paper); Finish graphic organizer for vocab, paraphrasing requirements to succeed on Embedded Assessment 1, and skills and knowledge needed for success; Begin narrative paragraph using sensory details and figurative language

Homework: Please, Please, PLEASE get a copy of “Tangerine” by Edward Bloor. You have to have the first 26 pages read by next Wednesday, January 10. If you don’t have the book, you cannot keep up, and this quarter will quickly spiral out of control. Amazon does have the book in stock, but deliveries are being slowed due to the east coast snow storm. I ordered mine yesterday and it will be here Sunday. If you order tonight, you should get it by Monday, and that will give you plenty of time! DONT WAIT! Barnes and Noble on Dallas Highway is sold out already.

Homework: You MUST have a copy of Tangerine by Edward Bloor by Monday January 8!!! We will be doing the majority of reading outside of class and doing work related to the reading while in class. There is no way that you can complete the classwork if you are not keeping up with the reading. Please go get a copy or order one from Amazon. They run about 8 dollars.
