First Grade Quarter 1 Standards Assessed

Foundation Reading Standards:

Students should be able to read 75 sight words, distinguishes features of a sentence, orally produce single syllable words by blending sounds and segmenting spoken single syllable words, and reads at a level D or higher.

Reading Comprehension Standards:

Students should be able to identify story elements, use details from illustrations to describe story elements, and build reading fluency/comprehension

Writing and Language Standards:

Students should be able to write a narrative piece using transition words, use correct capitalization and punctuation, use correct spacing, print upper/lowercase letters correctly, utilize the word wall, and spell phonetically untaught words.

Listening and Speaking Standard:

Students should independently follow agreed upon rules for discussion.

Math Standards:

Students should be able to count to 120 starting at any given number within 120, understand that teen numbers are made up of a group of ten with ones left over, understand that two-digit numbers are made up of a group of ten with ones left over, and add/subtract within 10

Social Studies Standard:

Students should be able to identify and locate where they live on a map (Earth, North America,  Georgia, Cobb, City)

Science Standard:

Students should be able demonstrate how magnets attract and repel and how they are used every day
