Math: Multiplication: Equal Groups and Repeated Addition

Grammar: Plural Nouns

Writing: Personal Narratives (Small moments in time)

Reading: Context Clues, Fluency and Comprehension

Science: Social Studies: 3 Models of Citizenship ( Personally Responsible Citizens, Participatory Citizens, and Justice Oriented Citizens)

 

Homework:

Math: Two-step Word Problems with Addition and Subtraction

Reading: Book Project Choice due Monday, October 1

 

My Math: Volume 1 student workbooks. Please see the attached letter that explains how you can use this workbook at home.

Corresponding Workbook Pages: Anything from Chapter 4. In class, we will be focusing on equal groups, repeated addition, arrays, and the Commutative Property.

Science:  Social Studies Launch Unit and “What Types of Citizens Does a Democracy Need?”/Mini DBQ

 

Homework:

Math: Weekly Review

Reading: Yellowstone National Park (Fluency and Comprehension)

Corresponding Workbook Pages: Anything from Chapter 2 and/or 3. In class, we will be focusing on the Standard Algorithm method for adding and subtracting (the way you learned it in school). But of course there is nothing wrong with all the other methods learned in second grade or those used in the workbook.

Just a heads up that the End of Grade Tests/Milestones for Math and English Language Arts in the spring will be online. We will be working on keyboarding/typing skills in the classroom but it is suggested that students get that practice at home also. I’m attaching skills to work on and free typing resources for you to use at home:

Monday, August 27th is our Media Center Day (We will be going every other Monday from now on). Students will also be able to visit the Media Center during their scheduled Media Center time during Reading.

Wednesday, August 29th is Early Release; it is also the end of the first 4 1/2 weeks.

Monday, September 3rd is a School Holiday to observe Labor Day.
