The latest in PE

This 9 weeks weeks has gone by so quickly!

We have completed the Volleyball, Basketball, Large Group Games, Ultimate, Soccer and Badminton Units!

We will try to run the mile on Monday or Tuesday but we will not dress out on Wednesday due to it being an early release day!

Friends and Peer Pressure

In the last couple of days we have talked about the qualities of a good, healthy friendship, solving problems in friendships and peer pressure.

If you have been out, here are two of the three assignments you may have missed:

  1. Want Ad for a New Friend: Describe the quality you would want in your ideal friend. On the back of this paper you should write three reason why you wrote what you wrote.
  2. Solving Problems in Friendship: Choose to either write about your own problem or choose from Caitlin or Taylor’s problems that are given. Decide if the problem is a “warning sign” or a “bad sign” for a friendship and then explain why. Then, propose a solution for the problem. Don’t forget about the TALK strategy we talked about in Conflict Resolution.

For the third graded assignment we watched “Brain Games: Peer Pressure” and took notes DURING the show. The notes include 3- Things you learned, 2- Interesting facts, and 1- Question you had. But if you missed this, don’t worry about it right now!

Next week we will start talking about “The Media” and the influences it has on you as a middle school student.

Flu Season- Make up work

Since there have been many students out with the flu and other sicknesses here is the “What Affects Your Health” PowerPoint and the concept map that went along with it. We then completed the worksheet (written assignment) in class, with a partner, and it was collected for a grade.

Stay Healthy!!

SNOW DAZE!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the snow days/ week off! Stay warm!

We have decided to go ahead and start our volleyball unit on Monday as planned and push the basketball unit to later on in the 9 weeks. This will allow our student/ teacher volleyball game to remain on Feb. 9th.

See y’all on Monday!!

Fitness Gram and Basketball

We should be finished with the fitness gram testing by this Friday! Once finished we will be able to start our basketball unit! The basketball unit will begin with a questionnaire that will help us to determine what skill level each student is at for this sport. The students will then be split up into a low medium and high skilled level groups. We will start with the basics and practice skills and drills before we start game play!

“Success means doing the best we can with what we have. Success is the doing, not the getting, in the trying, not the triumph. Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be.” -Zig Ziglar
