As you know, Teasley has been accepted as a Candidate School for the International Baccalaureate program. We are thrilled to be a part of such a world- renowned program. The goal of the IB program is to create Internationally Minded students who are lifelong learners that contribute positively to the world to make it a better place. You may have begun hearing your child (or your child’s teacher) talking about Learner Profile traits. These are the 10 traits that IB believes every student should have to achieve the goals mentioned above. While this authorization process will take years, we are hitting the ground running. We have begun introducing the Learner Profile traits each month. They are taught through a book and then the knowledge is extended through lessons based off of that character trait. The students are responding well to learning this way.
In January, we are focusing on learning how to be Open-Minded. We are reading Duck! Rabbit! which is about how one person says the character is a duck throughout the whole story and the other says it’s a rabbit. Students hopefully will learn that just because someone’s opinion is different than theirs, it doesn’t mean they are not correct.
I will be adding the new Learner Profile traits each month so that you can have access and know what we are focusing on each month.
Thank you for your support!!
