October is here!

I can’t believe October is already here! Wow.  I have heard some amazing stories recently of students using the IB language not only at school; but also at home.  We are so proud of the global learners they are becoming!

As a school, we are focusing on being Inquirers this month.  This involves us wanting to be lifelong learners and continually wanting to learn more and more.  You may encourage this at home by having children “find out” the answers; rather than just being told.   Here is  our definition we are using at school based off the book Ada Twist, Scientist.

Wow!

Every month we celebrate students who were picked as the Learner Profile trait model from their classroom that month.  Since we focused on Caring last month, we just celebrated our students last week.  Look at this fabulous group of CARING children!

August is the month for Caring

Hello Families!

As we integrate IB throughout the whole school, we are focusing on one Learner Profile Trait a month as a whole school.  Your children will be focused on the ones they are working on as a grade level.

For August, we are focused on Caring.  I made a “cheat sheet” so you will know how you can continue to foster this trait in your children no matter where they are.

Welcome Back!

Hello Teasley Families!

Welcome to the 2019- 2020 school year! We are so excited you are here! This is going to be an exciting year for us as we prepare to apply to be an International Baccalaureate World School.  Our teachers and students have been preparing for this for 2 years.  We will be ready!

We hope that you are starting to hear and see some benefits of this global thinking and learning at home like we already see at school.  I am hearing stories about students going home that are ready to change the world… or at least their part in it! 😉  That is the main goal of IB- to have our children become internationally-minded students who think globally and know how to take positive action when appropriate.

Our amazing teachers have already begun the school year by having the students look at themselves and others through the lens of the Learner Profile Traits and Key Concepts.  You will hear more about these aspects as we progress through the year but I will add a few pictures below of this work so it may begin to make sense.

You can follow me on Twitter at @TeasleyIB.  I will post updates there as well.  If you would like to go ahead and get more information about the program, you may also go to www.ibo.org.  Thank you!
