Beta Club Meeting Tuesday, April 24th, 2018

  • Our final meeting and party will be Tuesday, May 15th.  Your hours are due no later than this day!
  • Husky 101 is May 5th.  There are two sessions – morning and afternoon.  Please see Mrs. Healy or Mrs. Gray to sign up.
  • We are collecting can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.  We need more empty milk/water/juice jugs!  Please save them, wash them out really well and bring to Mrs. Healy.  The home room that collects the most tabs will win a donut breakfast!
  • We are stuffing envelopes with important school-related papers tomorrow morning (Wednesday)  and afternoon. WE NEED HELP, AND YOU CAN  EARN HOURS!

Beta Club Meeting Tuesday, March 6th, 2018

  • Our next meeting will be Tuesday, March 20th for the Beta Club induction ceremony.  Be here by 8 AM and please dress nicely.  There will be a small reception after the ceremony.  Parents are invited!  Remember that your dues must be paid, an you must have earned at least 10 hours in the fall to be inducted.
  • Our only April meeting will be April 24th due to Spring Break and Milestone testing.  Please bring your hours if you have them completed by then.  Here is the service hour sheet: service hour sheet
  • Here are LOTS of volunteer opportunities!
  • Tritt Dash this weekend March 10th. Students will sit in pairs at each turn of the race to make sure that the runners are on the right course.  Bring a chair and a blanket! You  will need to meet at Tritt at 7AM and you will be committed until 9AM.  Your parents must be OK with you sitting with another youth volunteer and NO ADULT if you are stationed in the Chimney Springs neighborhood.  If your parents have questions, the contact person from Tritt will be on the blog with a phone number.  SIGN UP SHEET
  • Rising 6th Grade Packets: We need help filling packets for the rising 6th graders at HTMS.  We will meet Tuesday, March 13th after school in Mrs. Healy’s room, and then again on Wednesday morning March 14th at 8 AM.
  • Husky 101 will be held on Sat. May 5th this year. There are two shifts for helpers from 9-12 and again from 1-4.  See Mrs. Healy to sign up if you have not already.
  • There will be more packets to fill for 7th and 8th graders – dates announced later.
  • Also, we need help sorting and packing t-shirts for the DC trip – sometime in April. Stay tuned.

Beta Club Meeting Tuesday, Feb. 6th, 2018

  • This was our only Feb. meeting due to Winter Break.  Our next meeting will be Tuesday, March 6th.
  • Induction into Beta Club will be Tuesday, March 20th.  There will be a ceremony and a reception following in the 8th Grade Commons.  Parents are invited.  You will not be inducted if you have not paid your dues or turned in a minimum of 10 hours or missed more than three meetings without a valid excuse.
  • Those who volunteered to work the Tritt Elementary dance on 2/9 should meet in the Tritt cafeteria on Friday afternoon after school.  Be sure you sign in to get credit or take your hours sheet with you.
  • There will be a Beta Club sponsored trip to the William Bremen Jewish Home on Sunday, March 4th.  You will provide your own transportation and you must have a signed permission trip.  More details to come.
  • The Foster Care Support group is always looking for volunteers.  Click on the link for more information: www.fostercares.org
  • Smoothie sellers for February and March are: Carly K., Carrington, and Caitlin W.
  • Be sure you are signing in at each meeting and put your first and last name on all documents unless your name is Beyonce 🙂

  • Our club photo will be taken on Tuesday, Jan. 30th at 10 am in the theater.  See Mrs. Healy for a pass.

Earn Hours – Tritt School Dance

  • Tritt Elementary is in need of volunteers for the school dance on February 9th.  Volunteers should come right when school is out (4:30 or 4:45 ish) and help decorate. Then during the dance, volunteers will help with concessions, tickets, crown control on blocked hallways, and clean up. Volunteers should be finished by 9:20. PLEASE SEE MRS. HEALY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!

Earn Hours – Pope HS Band Recycling Day

Volunteers are desperately needed for Saturday, January 27th for two hour shifts between 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Volunteer roles include: Taking payments, providing receipts, directing traffic in the parking lot, and unloading of cars.

Students, friends, relatives and mature siblings are welcome to sign up. Community Service hours can be earned.  Dress is casual and comfortable. However, closed toed shoes are required! Please click here to sign-up on charms.

Beta Club Meeting, Jan. 16th, 2018

  • We will have only ONE meeting in January and February.  Our next meeting will be Feb 6th.
  • You must have a total of 20 service hours for the year.  If you already reached 20 in the first semester, then you need just a couple more for this semester.  We just want to see you continue working in the community!   Final hours will not be due until May.  If you do not receive 20 hours total for the year, you will be removed for the local and national Beta Club roll.
  • Remember that attendance is mandatory.  If you need to miss a meeting, please get a signed note from either a parent or a teacher.

Beta Club Meeting, December 5th, 2017

  • The collection of food for Blessings in a Backpack continues on Tuesdays and Fridays through Dec. 15th.  Please remember to show up on the day you signed up for.  If you can’t make it, please find a replacement.
  • Beta Club hours are due by the 1st meeting back in January which will be Jan. 16th. You must have a minimum of 10 hours and you must fill in a service hour sheet. service hour sheet. Be sure to total your hours at the bottom of the sheet.
  • Beta Club holiday party is Dec. 19th.  Please bring food to share!  We will provide Chik-fil-a and drinks.  We won’t have an official meeting, so everyone can study for finals.
  • T-shirts have been ordered and will be delivered at or before the next meeting.
  • If your dues are not paid by now, you will be removed from the Beta Club roll.
  • Attendance at meetings is MANDATORY! If you have a study session or other conflict, have the teacher sign an absence note so your absence is excused.

Beta Club Meeting, November 14th, 2017

  • Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Dec. 5th at 8:15 in the 6th Grade Commons.
  • T-shirt orders will be placed at the end of this week and should be available for delivery before winter break.
  • Remember that a t-shirt will not be ordered for you unless it has been paid for, and your dues must be paid first!
  • The Canned Food Drive to benefit Blessings in a Backpack” runs from Nov. 27th – Dec. 15th.  If you signed up to collect cans on any Tuesday or Friday, please meet Mrs. Gray and Mrs. Healy in the 7A Hallway at 8:30 on your assigned day.  We will give you tally sheets and instructions as well as a cat to collect cans with.
  • Reminder that you must have 10 hours of service this semester.  When you total 10 hours, please turn your sheets in to Mrs. Healy.  Deadline for hours turn-in will be the first meeting in January.

  • You must be at HTMS no later tha 7:15 am and plan to stay the full two hours until 9:15.  Please make arrangements to be dropped off and picked up.
  • You MUST check in with Jolee Northrup (one of your BC presidents) and sign-in with her if you are to receive credit for your service hours.  Only those signed in will receive service hours!
  • Remember, our next meeting will be Tuesday of next week – 11/14.

  • Our next meeting will be Tuesday, November 14th at 8:15 in the 6th Grade Commons.  This will be our ONLY meeting for November.
  • Dues must be paid by December 5th.  They are $18 for 7th graders and $3 for returning 8th graders.
  • Those signed up for the Husky Hustle are to report by 7:15 am and check in with J. Northrop.  The event is Saturday, Nov. 11th.

  • Tritt Elementary needs volunteers to help pack up books after the book fair this Thursday, 10/19 from 4-5 pm.  Several of you signed up this morning, but you can just show up if you can go!
  • Tritt Elementary has  a family fun night on 10/27. Set up is at 4:30 and will run from 6-8. Probably need some added time for take down/clean up. COME SEE MRS. HEALY OR SEND HER AN EMAIL TO SIGN UP FOR THIS EVENT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED.
  • HTMS will be doing a canned food drive in November.  We will need lots of volunteers  to make posters and collect cans.  There will be more information at the next meeting.  Look for a Remind message about making posters!

  • Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 17th at 8:10 in the 6th Grade Commons.  Remember, you may have only 3 absences per semester.
  • Dues are $3 for returning 8th graders and $18 for 7th graders.  Make your check payable to HTMS and fill out the payment envelope with “Beta Club Dues” in the “other” line.  Deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 5th.
  • T-shirt $ is due by November 14th.  Long-sleeved shirts are $18 and short-sleeved shirts are $10.  Make your check payable to HTMS and fill out the payment envelope with “Beta Club T-shirt” in the “other” line.
  • The Husky Hustle is Saturday, November 11th.  You may not volunteer if you are running the race.  Be at school by 7:15 am and check in with Mrs. Postell.
  • For those of you interested in volunteering with Pope High School Interact Club (service organization) at the Foster Care event on October 28th, there will be permission forms and more information at the next meeting.  You will be paired up with a student from Pope, and you should plan to provide your own transportation.  The event is from 10 am to 1 pm.  See Mrs. Healy if you would like to know more!

  • Our next meeting will be Tuesday, Oct. 3rd at 8:10 in the 6th Grade Commons. We meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.
  • We are taking attendance at meetings.  You can miss ONLY 3 meetings per semester.
  • Beta Club dues are $18.  Make your check payable to HTMS and put it in the safe.  Please mark your envelope correctly. If you are a returning 8th grade member, your dues are only $3.
  • Congrats to our new Beta Club officers : Nishka M., Joshua M., Jolee N., Carly K. and, Mary Grace T.
  • We will be ordering Beta Club t-shirts at the next meeting.  There are short-sleeved and long-sleeved available to order.  Cost will be $10 for the short and $18 for the long.

Tuesday, September 5th, 2017

  • Thanks to all who attended our first meeting.  Our next meeting will be next Tuesday, Sept. 19th in the 6th Grade Commons at 8:10.
  • We will be taking attendance at all meetings this year.  You cannot miss more than TWO meetings per  semester.  Otherwise, you will be removed from the roll.
  • Remember that you must earn a total of 20 service hours for the entire year which can be broken up into increments of 10 per semester.  You can have MORE than 20 but not LESS! Please turn your hours in in increments of 10 and use the Service Hour sheet.
  • There will be opportunities for signing up for events that require manpower, and you can earn service hours this way.  You can also earn service hours on your own doing activities through your church or synagogue or helping your family or neighbors.
  • Dues are $18 for the year and will be due by Oct. 17th which will be our 2nd Oct. meeting.  You can put your check in the safe made out to HTMS.  Please put “Beta Club” on the “other” line.
  • We will order Beta Club t-shirts this fall.  Stay tuned for more information.
  • Those who are interested in a leadership  position in Beta Club should come to the meeting next Tuesday with a small speech explaining why you would be a good leader for our group.
