April 27, 2016

Dear Parent/Guardian,

It is time for your student to take the online SLO post-test! You may recall learning about the online SLO assessment in August/September 2015 when your child took the pre-test assessment.

What is a Student Learning Objective (SLO)?

SLOs are subject-specific learning objectives that provide growth measures for student learning. Teams of Cobb County teachers from across the district developed the SLO assessments. The SLO implementation requires teachers to use online assessments to determine student growth over the course of the year. The results of these assessments ensure that students, teachers, and Eastvalley Elementary are moving toward a common vision of exemplary instruction and high levels of student academic growth.

Your child will take the online SLO post-test with his/her teacher sometime between Monday, May 2nd and Friday, May 13th. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions. Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Dr. Sage Doolittle

Assistant Principal

Testing Lock-Down

Eastvalley’s Milestones Testing Lock-Down will be 8:00am-11:00am Wednesday, April 13th – Tuesday, April 19th. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00am daily! We want our students to do their very best on the Milestones. Therefore, Eastvalley will be on testing “lock-down” from 8:00am-11:00am 4/13-4/19. Testing lock-down means that K-5 students and all staff will remain in their classrooms and not be in the hallways. Also, parents, volunteers, and guests will not allowed access to Eastvalley from 8:00am-11:00am. Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and support.

Chick-fil-a

On Friday night, CFA will host our annual Circus Night at Chick-fil-A East Lake as a part of our ongoing partnership with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, but this year, we are also participating in a charitable drive for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a part of their “Pies for Patients” initiative.

Chick-fil-A East Lake will be donating 10% of circus night sales to CHOA AND participating in #getpiedforchoa.

The clown will assist any willing to take the challenge – similar to the ALS ice bucket challenge.  More details can be found at: http://choa.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1152621&lis=1&kntae1152621=B2087AE4FD2E421FAACFA867566AC6BB

It should be a  fun night for those watching as well as those participating – and we will donate 10% of our sales to CHOA.
