Intro to Graphic Design – Photoshop – POP ART

April 20th, 2020

The next assignment in Photoshop is one of my favorites! Learning how to create POP ART from an original image of your choice. I have sent out the email to everyone in both classes of Intro. I have also shared the folder for the pop art assignment in the google drive. In the email you will see a video on basic color theory (please watch), the assignment details, two tutorials in Photoshop (for those using Photoshop not Photopea). In the Google drive you will find two videos from Mr. Ward (a welcome back and tutorial in Photopea). If you are confused or have questions, please email me and I will get back to you. Please let me know which program you are using so I can give you correct feedback and help.

Assignment due date is Friday, April 24th. If you need additional time, please email me. I am working on setting up a zoom meeting. I will email everyone a day in time by tomorrow.

Please see a few examples below from past students: Loren Franke, Lisa Pringle and Leah Delfausse.

Intro to Graphic Design – Fantasy Animal

Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone took the time to relax and spend time with family.

As we head into the last weeks of school, I will continue to post assignments to help you improve your skills in Graphic Design. I know our situation is not ideal, but I will do the best I can to continue to offer challenging lessons for all of you and if you have questions, I will do my best to support you in any way I can. Please be sure to check your class email for class assignments and their due dates.

You may need to review the videos sent the week before break. If you are still finding those challenging please, email me and let me know and I will offer extra help. If you are feeling you are up for the challenge, and now that you have the very basics of Photoshop/Photospea down, let’s challenge ourselves.  This assignment will be one that we will eventually count as a grade, please do your best..  It is also one of the funnest projects we do!  it’s called Fantasy Animal and the attached Word Doc will be emailed to your class email and explain everything!

Good luck, get creative and let’s make something fun!  Please try to have these done by Friday of next week!

Intro to Graphic Design – Photoshop Lesson 3 & 4

Below is the email I just sent out to my Intro to Graphic Design students – If you didn’t receive this email – Please reach to me ASAP! Thank you, Mrs. H
This is the last assignment that will be given before Spring Break and it is due FRIDAY, APRIL 3rd, 2020

Students – I will be placing two folders in the google drive for Intro to Graphic Design. You will use the images out of the shared Photoshop Pictures folder to practice these lessons.

FYI – we are a few days behind Mr. Ward’s Into class and that is ok. So when you are viewing his video’s and he is giving a date do not worry about it. Just follow along with the lesson.
Photoshop Lesson 3 – Mr. Ward is working in Photopea – this is not a big deal you can also work in Photoshop on the CLONE STAMP TOOL. If you are having trouble following along.
Here is a link that reviews step by step the clone tool and healing brush –
You can also look up a tutorial on youtube if you still need extra help. Please keep this in mind when using any of the tools in Photoshop. Look up beginner videos on Adobe Photoshop – Clone stamp or Content aware. As examples.
Please practice these tools you will need to use them when we return on your first big assignment. Please save your files showing what you’ve done and email them to me in one email.
Photoshop Lesson 4 – Mr. Ward will be working in Photopea again. He will be discussing how to select objects and using quick select. He will review how to change colors of objects and blending.
If you need a tutorial – here is one –
You can always look up beginner tutorials for Adobe Photoshop for each tool.
Please make sure to practice using these tools. When we return from Spring Break – You will start your first large project in Photoshop – the Fantasy Animal. Start thinking about three animals that you can put together to create your new animal. They must be real animals and not cartoons.
I hope you are all doing well, I miss you all a lot and hoping we get to see each other before the end of the school year! If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out!
Take care,
Mrs H

REVIEW OF PROGRAMS – Online programs that are available to every student online for FREE include – Vectr (like Adobe Illustrator), Photopea (like Adobe Photoshop) and Canva (like Adobe InDesign). These programs work and are similar to the Adobe Creative Suite. Students who are using these programs will have a bit of a learning curve. They were given these options several days before the first assignment went out to familiarize themselves with the online versions.

ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE – This option became available to our students at the beginning of the second week of online/digital learning. I sent detailed instructions for the students to access the Adobe page to download and login to these programs. The programs are what they use at school in class. Students are more familiar with Adobe Illustrator and I tried to wrap up this program with 2  assignments. To keep the students familiar with what they already knew. The students are now using Adobe Photoshop learning each tool, to help familiarize them with the program. They have been given 2 simple assignments to review.

Assignments – as of TODAY, March 31st, 2020 –
1 – simple color wheel with unit vocabulary
2 – Creative color wheel – 3 sketches of objects, selection of one with reasoning.
3 – Photoshop/Photopea – making selections, smart objects, raster image, layers (video included)
4 – Photoshop – Healing brush, and Clone stamp tool (video included)
5 – Photoshop – EXTRA HELP – Selections, delete, smart object (video included)

If anyone has any questions, please reach out to me and ask. I can only help if I know you are having trouble and if you reach out. All questions, small or large. I will respond and give you as much help as needed. 🙂

P.S. New Assignment – April 1st! 🙂

Intro to Graphic Design – Adobe Photoshop – Lesson 1 & 2

Today, I sent out Lesson 1 and 2 for Adobe Photoshop. I emailed you a link to share a google folder so that you will have access to files for each assignment. Each folder has an assignment number and date. This will help you refer back and have assignments clearly given to complete for class. Lesson 1 and 2 will be due Monday, March 30th.

On another note, there are several students I have not heard from at all since we have left school for digital learning. I will be reaching out to your parents to confirm you are receiving my communication and working on your class assignments. Everyone should now have access to the Adobe Creative Suite, if you have a computer and you are able to download the programs onto it to work. If not, Vectr, Photopea and Canva are accessible online for you to still be able to complete your work for the Intro to Graphic Design course.

I hope you all are doing well! I sure miss seeing you all in class everyday! If you all need anything please let me know. I am going to work on getting zoom set up to see if we can start meeting once a week or set a schedule for questions, etc. I will keep you posted.

Until next time…

Mrs. H
