This week the students will complete their Aquo poster in Illustrator and complete any unfinished tutorials they didn’t finish last week. Cartoon outline/color fill and Batman that were assigned while I was out last week are due for completion grades.
The students will learn about type character parts, how to download fonts and add them to their library on the computer. The students will have a type quiz on Tuesday, Feb 27th.
UPDATE: Parents/Students – I am going to be out all week. I have sent emails to all the students in my classes to keep them up to date. As well as, Mr Ward has stepped in to help with any question the students have while I am out. They will be working on the Aquos poster for the remainder of the week and the poster will be due at the end of class on Monday, Feb 12th.
The week of February 5-9, students will work on recreating the Aquos poster in Illustrator. They will use what they have learned in class on all tools to recreate this poster. This poster will count as a test grade/major summative grade.
The students will also work on their skills using the tools they’ve learned through practicing each tool on cartoon pages.
This week the students will continue to build their knowledge and learn how to use basic shapes to create objects and merge objects together using the pathfinder tool. They will continue to practice tracing to help perfect the pen tool, merging objects, moving items to the front and back and layers.

It has been great getting to meet my new students. We have reviewed the syllabus, materials needed and mac 101. The supply list is on the syllabus which you can find on my blog.
Next week, we will start looking into careers in graphics, history of graphic design, ethics and math and measurements. The students will have a few projects in class during the week to help support what they are learning in class.
Have a great weekend!

Syllabus 2017-18 tbh 010318-1ofbi7c
Since returning from Thanksgiving break, the students have worked in InDesign. They have created a newsletter which was 4 pages. They incorporated a name plate, folio, headlines, subhead, author to each article, they included images and how to wrap text around the images. The completed newsletter was 4 pages and printed in full color. The students worked hard on their layout and came up with some really great newsletters!
This led us into our final project for the semester that they will wrap up on Thursday of this week. Their portfolio which will show progression from the beginning of the semester, when they started in Illustrator, moved into Photoshop and wrapped up in InDesign.
The students will take a final test next week. We will review on Friday and Monday. I have informed all of the classes that this Friday, December 15th will be the last day I accept any late/missing assignments. I have given each of them more than enough time to submit and resubmit this assignments.
I’m still in a bit of shock and can’t believe how fast this semester has gone by…I’m really going to miss all of the students in the Intro classes. So much talent is these young ladies and men. So happy that several of them decided to move into the second level class…excited to see their talent grow!
Hope everyone has a restful and relaxing Holiday break!
