(Sept. 18- Sept. 22 )

ELA

This week we will continue the Heroes Unit by looking at the Strategies of Definition (example, function, and negation) which will be part of the Definition Essay. For this week we will read and analyze literary texts that highlight examples of heroes. By week’s end, students will begin working on their Definition of a Hero graphic organizer. Also, we are back on track with our Daily Oral Language study.

 

Reading

This week we will be reading Code Talker through chapter 15. Students will have a comprehensive test on all chapters this week. Also,  the concepts of Plot and Theme will be reviewed and practiced.

This week started off a little different. Thankfully, all of our students made it back safely after Tropical Storm Irma.

Students presented their Embedded Assessment #1/ Narratives using the Heroes Journey Archetype.

Reading

Students learned about the concepts of conflict and inferences and continued to read Code Talker.
