May 21 Pizza Day

Wise Guys,

Just wanted to send a friendly reminder about tomorrow, May 21st.  It will be our last FULL day together as a class.  First of all, the students cracked a “count down egg” that said they could dress as their favorite star or famous person.  So, they may do so if they choose.  Also, we will be having Pizza and a movie during lunch.  It will be at a different time than our normal lunch, but within the classroom.  I have permission slips for EVERYONE, so do not stress!  The students will each receive 2 slices of cheese pizza from Domino’s, a juice box or water, and a cookie (or ice cream if they have allergies.)

If your child would like, please allow them to bring “extras.”  For example, if your child normally eats more than two slices of pizza, they may want to bring a yogurt, fruit, chips, or veggie.  They can bring this in their lunch box and eat with their pizza lunch.

Three more days, and it will be summer for these guys.  Makes me both happy and sad at the same time.  I’ve grown very attached to them.

Sincerely,

Deborah Stephens

Countdown Days in our Classroom

Oh my goodness these kids crack me up!  Today we had our “Inside Recess” as their pick and tomorrow will be “Kids in Charge Day!”  If I send out an S.O.S., it could be a real code for help!  LOL

I cannot believe there are only 7 more days of school left for this school year.  Please keep in touch and reach out to me in the future if you have any questions regarding your child’s academic future.

Sincerely,

Deborah Stephens

End of Year Countdown…May 11th

The students will have “Builder Blox” day tomorrow.  This means that throughout the course of the day, the students will be building with Legos, cubes, blocks, and may also build spinners.  They also are allowed to bring Beyblades from home, if they wish.  Everything else I have ready at school.

9 Days Left…

Sincerely,

Deborah Stephens

May 9th: Cracked Egg….

Dear Wise Guy Parents,

The egg was cracked today, and we will have an Art Day after field day activities.  Please note that I WILL be teaching and mixing in art with the lessons as we do these “fun days” to end the school year.  Each day til the last day of school will not be “play and fun.”  LOL

I have all supplies for the day’s activities, but wanted you to know what the kids will be experiencing tomorrow.

Sincerely,

Deborah Stephens

May 7, 2018

Students may bring ONE game to school to share during portions of the day.  No electronics please.  Just simple board games, card games, travel type games that will fit into their backpacks.  This is their latest countdown to end of school activity.

Tomorrow’s Countdown Activity…

We cracked another egg today to see what tomorrow has in store for us.  The kids will receive extra recess at some point in their day tomorrow.  They are super excited.  Thanks for listening out for the upcoming events each day.

Sincerely,

Deborah Stephens

End of Year Pizza Celebration- May 21

Wise Guys,

The Second Grade teachers would like to have a celebration to end the school year with a movie/pizza party on May 21st.  We will be offering a pizza lunch (if your child would like to enjoy), but will also have the option of having a sack lunch from the cafeteria or sack lunch from home.  Regardless of what they eat, it will just be another fun time together with their teachers and their peers.

We will be ordering Cheese Pizza only (from Domino’s pizza)- two slices per student, we will have juice boxes, and Ms. Alderson is checking on an allergy free dessert for all (I will keep you posted).  If you think your child will still be hungry, please feel free to send “extras” with them that morning.  A couple of the kids asked if they could still bring “sides”…which cracked me up.  It made me picture them being at a nice restaurant waiting for their two side choices.  LOL  But of course, you may send fruit, veggies, hummus, chips, etc. just for your child to enjoy with their pizza lunch.

Please try to send the form back to school by Friday so I may let the lunch ladies and Ms. Alderson know how many school lunches and/or pizzas to get ready for us.

Have a wonderful evening,

Deborah Stephens

Butterflies

Parents,

As we have been learning about life cycles during science this grading period, we have also been raising life butterflies.  We began with 6 larva and added 4 more to our habitat.  At this time, we have 7 butterflies that have come out of their chrysalis.  The butterflies are Painted Lady Butterflies and have a life span of about 2 weeks.  The students have been very excited to observe the process of the life cycle.  It happens so quickly!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Stephens
