Thank you all for the amazing birthday and holiday hugs and treats. The students were so thoughtful in their sweet cards and presentation of the gift card tree. You were all so generous in your gifts! I cannot express to you how blessed I’ve felt working with your children and your families. This school year has been full of new challenges that the kids and I have taken on together. So many wonderful learning opportunities have presented themselves through themed activities, world events, and even STEM. I look forward to welcoming the students back in the New Year, January 4th.
For those who ordered STEM t-shirts, they went home with students today! We will be having a school wide STEM day this Wednesday, November 29th. Also, Second grade classes will be having a grade level STEM day next week, December 6th. Please encourage your child to wear their new t-shirt! If your child did not order a STEM shirt, do not worry…maybe our class shirt will be a fun alternative. Regardless, we plan to have some amazing engineering and fun learning. Be on the lookout for great photos on our Shutterfly account!
The Scholastic Book Fair will be taking place in the Media Center this week! Check out Dawn Alexander’s blog on the East Side Homepage for more information. Our class will be visiting the book fair on Wednesday, Nov. 15, from 10:35-10:55 if you’d like to join us.
I’m excited to let you know that both RAZ Kidz and IXL are now up and running! Please allow your child to get more familiar with non-fiction text in their library of RAZ Kidz books as well as practicing place value, coin word problems, and double digit addition/subtraction through the IXL website. Thank you so much PTA!
The Wise Guys did a fantastic job presenting their pumpkin projects. I was super proud of their asking & answering of questions. The topics were unique in presentation as well as their amazing artwork that accompanied them!
We are now finished with the display of hard work and are allowing the pumpkins to come home at this time. Please feel free to come any day this week to collect and enjoy at home.
Thank you for assisting your child with their research and presentation.
Thank you for your presence at conferences this week. I have enjoyed the time spent with you discussing the progress of your child’s Second Grade development. As discussed, we are now introducing elements of nonfiction reading and writing. Soon, they will be bringing home “published pieces” they’ve produced. Stay tuned…
